As a former basketball { College hoops } junkie of the late 70's
and 80's I am still somewhat bowled over whenever I am reminded
of THE Fastest college basketball player of all time.Long since forgotten
he has a Moniker { nickname }. The great Caywood Ledford { radio
announcer } said " is so fast ... that as he races down the floor,he almost
    takes your breath away."
He wouldn't be far off. This 6'3" bundle of unnerved athleticism
and raw power, like a human freight train was a basketball " phenom ".
Sadfully his college career was marked with a stain and entering the
    NBA went to his head.
Name this unbelievable *guard of the late 70's,early 80's.

    * As a sophomore led his high school to a state title, averaging 38 pts.,
14 rebounds and 11 assists a game. Was considered the number One
prospect in the nation as he finished high school.

Foolio, the fastest NBA player of that time period was Nate "Tiny" Archibald.

Not sure if that's the answer to your riddle, but that would be my opinion, having also watched that era of basketball.

Yeah /// Yeah /// yeah ...And Earl the Pearl was a legend.
And some swear by Bob Cousy. Then others ... Walt " Clyde " Frazier.
I'm taking raw talent. What you see is what happened.
Not some abnormal freak of basketball like Spud Webb { won a
    dunk contest } standing 5'7".
This guy was a basketball marvel.Could have bee a Harlem Globe Trotter
as an 8th grader.I kid you not.
He had a fall from grace.
