Overall it was a very nice speech. He moved around a lot and it was hard following him at times but overall the message was sound. Pass my bills because the people want it.
I won't be watching it. For me, today's GOP is a disgrace. First of all, I'm sure their rebuttal will be full of lies. Second, all that they want is to obstruct whatever good Biden might do, in the hope of winning the next election. The GOP is the party of "no." And it's been hijacked by the extreme right. No interest in listening to those idiots.
Interesting, the commentators, who got advance copies of the speech, say Biden added a lot of ad lib material.
I won't lie when I say I kinda want to go to bed now. It's late on my end and I don't have the energy for it.
Aside from whether I agree with Biden's policy proposals or not(I share the GOP's concern in the 'infrastructure bill's lacking in overall infrastructure) I will at least say that he didn't divide Americans along political lines for the most part. In that regard, it's a well done speech.
Oh you're damn right I am. If there is one thing I don't mind the government spending tax money on is abortions for democrat voters.
I think Republicans made a good choice for their rebuttal. Senator Scott seems to be trying to redefine both recent history, & present events, so that he & Republicans are trying to claim the same ground of non-partisan, populist unity, as Biden. Unfortunately, one needs to research these claims, to know how much of that was straight fact, & all the ways fact was bent or ignored. I only knew, from previous research, that the part about Georgia's new election law was not true. I also noticed that the percentage of funds going to traditional infrastructure, in the infrastructure bill, was shrunken from the GOP's claims of 15%-- which already was only half of the spending that would conventionally meet that definition-- down to just, supposedly, 6%.
most abortions are Christians having them, you think they are all dems? "Religious school grads likelier to have abortions" https://www.nbcnews.com/health/heal...l-grads-likelier-have-abortions-flna1c9437875 but this is off topic, so let's move on
If He mentioned Global Warming or Climate Change, you would know simply from that He may be up to no good.
The flash-poll ratings of Biden's speech are extremely positive-- one poll said 71% liked what they'd heard; in another, it was 85%! I don't use this word often but, even though I already said it once in this thread, those numbers merit a redux: Wow!
As a person who wanted Joe to get the nomination in 2008, I felt that what we got as a nominee in 2020 was 'Biden Lite'. But I was pleasantly surprised with him last night. He didn't spend time bashing the Republicans or Trump and when he did mention the previous administration, he had a point to make. He laid out a plan and he went back to his goal of unity. All in all, one of the better addresses I've heard in a while!
I think Nixon was more evil because he prolonged the War in Vietnam, but Trump is more contemptible as a human being. Nixon was presidential. He had gravitas. Trump is neither. Trump has the personality of the high school bully he used to be and the character of a con man.
I perceive of poverty as mainly the result of low intelligence. It is not the fault of the poor that they picked losing numbers on the IQ lottery at the time of conception, but I do not think they should be having children. Right now people with IQ's below 100 tend to have more children than people with IQ's above 100. While this is happening computer technology and automation are replacing jobs most people have the intelligence to learn. If current trends continue, a growing percentage of the population of the United States and the world will be congenitally incapable of doing anything useful for a living. Insulting me, and claiming that what I have just written is not true does not make it not true.
"Get off my lawn you meddlesome kids!" Seriously, could you get any whinier? Please, that was rhetorical, not a challenge! lol
While I have developed great respect for your medical knowledge, and your tireless effort to educate all of us here about the COVID virus and the vaccines, we are POLES apart politically, evidently. So much so that, for my response, I would rewrite your post (above) thusly: I won't be watching it. For me, today's radical Democrat Party is a disgrace. First of all, I'm sure Biden's presentation will be full of lies and gross distortions. Second, all that his faction wants is the obliteration of whatever good Trump actually did accomplish in his term, in the hope of further leveraging welfare handouts and subsidies in order to win more elections. The Democrat Party is the party of "neo-Socialism" and senseless, abusive "woke"-propaganda. And it's been hijacked by the extreme Left. No interest in listening to those idiots. Truth? The only people who benefit from the sickening levels of increasingly-entrenched divisiveness in this country are our adversaries, the Russians, and the Chinese. . "Hey, if the Americans want to commit suicide, LET 'EM...!"
