….”Speaker of the House Mike Johnson also stated his support.

A who’s who of Republican governors announced their support for the State of Texas and Governor Abbott’s fight against the Biden administration’s open border policies. The list includes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Virginia Governor Glen Youngkin, and West Virginia Governor Jim Justice.

    Original article continues:

“Texas is trying to enforce our laws and uphold our sovereignty while the federal government is disregarding the law and ignoring its responsibility to protect our borders,” Gov. DeSantis posted on X….

…Governor Gianforte wrote that Governor Abbott is doing what President Joe Biden won’t. “By refusing to act, President Biden is inviting cartels, illegal drugs, and human trafficking into the United States,” the Montana governor wrote. “We must secure the southern border.”

    “Oklahoma stands with Texas,”…

Thanks to Governor Abbott for taking your principled stand. We the people support you in your defiance of our Federal executive branch. The order said that the feds can cut the wire. You should put up more faster than they can cut it and go back where they cut after they leave and replace it.

“UPDATE: After publishing this article, governors from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Wyoming added their support.”

this is even better. Way to go Governors. Please send local law enforcement, not state national guard and equipment to Texas. If the president nationalizes the Texas national guard in order to force more aliens, gangs, sex slaves, and fentanyl into the USA it will make for a great election issue on several fronts.

I am totally on side with republicans about border security issues. We need a more secure border. BUT if it is true that Trump is telling republicans to squash the border deal with democrats so Biden does not get a win then republicans have lost all credibility on the issue. I want this problem fixed but if politicians desired political obedience and partisanship over fixing or at least making the problem better then I am really done with the party.

I am not sure the governors accurately characterize Abbott's actions, which clearly seem promotional, as actually doing something.

The Democrats aren't going to secure the border. The provisions in the current proposal won't be enforced.

If that is true then there would be no win for Biden. At best he get a photo op and some headlines. He would only get a win if things improved by the time the election comes around.

I do not know the details yet but if republicans and democrats have been negotiating for this I would have to assume there are provisions republicans want. If Trump is REALLY telling republicans to kill the deal just so he has a better chance of being elected I can't think of more anti-governance behavior than that. If it was a business, that would be like a potential CEO telling the current directors to kill a contract that would benefit the company. That would be a total violation of fiduciary duty.

Sure, he'll dress things up to look good for the election. But, after the election is over, if he wins, things will go back to the way they are now. Surely you know that?

So are you saying that he can't dress things up without the bill?

I have heard politicians claim that the bill will give the current or next president the tools necessary to address the issue. Even if Trump wins he now has more options.

Let's get to basics. Would you have any problems at all if the reporting is true that Trump wants republicans to kill a negotiated solution because it may help Biden even though your party think it will help America?

In bold, not just politicians, but, specifically, Senior Senate "Republicans". (I put the quotes because I really don't recognize them traditional conservatives any longer).

Then would are republicans wasting their time negotiating for it? Why didn't they say that long ago? We pay these people salaries and they are doing things that are absolutely pointless.

Whenever the states try to do something Biden sues them and tells them to stop.

Not just really, but absolutely. Why is Biden suing states that try to secure their borders?

As per usual, you have no idea what you're talking about.
The new bipartisan proposal hasn't even been put in writing yet but YOU know what will and will not be enforced.
Now, no doubt, your comeback will be something like "Well, they haven't up to now" which, again, is nonsense since Republicans have done just as good a job. The border is a political football that both sides keep punting.

The Administration doesn't want more agents to stop the invasion, they want more agents to speed up the process of letting them in. Someone needs to shut the gate.

No, I don't know that. What "inside" info do you have to make such an illogical leap. Here's reality, if Trump wins (god help us) all you'll get is a lot of bluster and nothing done but inhumane bullshit.....like before.

    Two reasons
They do illegal things and it's not their job. That's why they lose in court.

Headline is misleading...against feds or against the Rule of law as declared by SCOTUS striking this down?

Why do you think Republicans haven't done that? I'll tell you.....it's the only issue they have. That's it. They suck at everything else. They have no idea how to govern. None.

Because any bill from the Republican controlled House has to get through the Democrat controlled Senate.

If you want a secure border does it matter who secures it?
