    This thread is a continuation of the previous debate, closed as overlength;
    http://www.politicalforum.com/latest-world-news/92881-boycott-divestment-israel-70.html

This is today's leader comment in the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz. It indicates two things; that the world-wide rejection of Zionist politics, including internal Israeli rejection, is propelling Zionism towards bitter defeat and that the preferred method of countering boycott and divestment is oppressive internal law. This oppression, for the benefit of any Zionists or their supporters struggling to comprehend their unpopularity, is the reason for the opposition to Zionism, not an effective counter to it.

People can assist in bringing about peace and democracy in the Middle East in small, but effective, individual actions. Don't, for example, buy Israeli products wherever you live, particularly products from the illegally occupied territories. Check that your trading partners operate ethical policies and do not feed the Zionist occupation machinery. Speak openly of your opposition to your country's political support for fascism , if such is where you live, and demand change. If you are fearful of doing that then your own government and laws are in need of an overhaul. You can facilitate that by opposing Zionism first. It is at the root of a host of international ills.

The irony of BDS - a small number of fringe radicals with no purchasing power to speak of are boycotting the country whose products they are unable to identify (hint: high-tech) and/or afford (hint: cut diamonds, machinery, military equipment).

Their success so far has been nothing short of staggering:

    Israel's import growth in 2010: 25.3%
    Israel's export growth in 2010: 22.5%
    GDP growth in 2010: 4.2%
    Unemployment in 2010: 7.4%, June 2011: all-time low of 5.9%
    http://www.hktdc.com/info/mi/a/mp/en/1X00108S/1/Market-Profiles/Israel.htm

With Israel becoming a Gas/Oil exporter in the next few years I can only wish good luck to the boycott proponents, they are going to need a lot of it.

    high tech?

    Such as?
    a stupid rock.

what value is there to a rock except pride, bling and ignorant vanity.

when i was old enough to realize that rock is sold in such a way, that many women grow up expecting a fricken diamond, just to give her commitment in marriage. I have had a discontent with religion for the EXACT same type of reasons; people are sold the products value, when in fact there aint one

    what machiinery?

and ff(*)(*)(*)(*) military equipment................. all of it should be boycottededededed
of course; they have brain washed the world to give them reparations for ww2 and the US government has approved funding to a country the size of a US county, with more money than some states have for an annual gdp
with vanity and weapons being your products.................. i could see how the business of bigots grows like a cancer

Your input is equivalent to your fiction of Moses the Egyptian Arab...

    Israel, the 100th smallest country,
with less than 1/1000th of the world's
population, can lay claim to the following:

The cell phone was developed in Israel by Israelis working in the
Israeli branch of Motorola, which has its largest development center in
    Israel.

Most of the Windows NT and XP operating systems were developed by
    Microsoft-Israel.

The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel. Both
the Pentium-4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely
designed, developed and produced in Israel. The Pentium microprocessor in your
computer was most likely made in Israel.

Voice mail technology was developed in Israel. Both Microsoft and Cisco
built their only R&D facilities outside the US in Israel.

The technology for the AOL Instant Messenger ICQ was developed in
    1996 by four young Israelis.

Israel has the fourth largest air force in the world (after the U.S.,
Russia and China). In addition to a large variety of other aircraft, Israel's
air force has an aerial arsenal of over 250 F-16's. This is the largest
fleet of F-16 aircraft outside of the US.

According to industry officials, Israel designed the airline industry's
most impenetrable flight security. U. S. officials now look to Israel for
advice on how to handle airborne security threats.

Israel's $100 billion economy is larger than all of its immediate
    neighbors combined.

Israel has the highest percentage in the world of home computers per
    capita.

Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees to the population in
    the world.

Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation
    by a
large margin - 109 per 10,000 people -- as well as one of the highest
per capita rates of patents filed.

In proportion to its population, Israel has the largest number of
startup companies in the world. In absolute terms, Israel has the largest
number of startup companies than any other country in the world, except the US
    (3,500 companies mostly in hi-tech).

With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and startups, Israel has the
highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world -- apart from the
    Silicon Valley, US.

Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind
    the US.

Outside the United States and Canada, Israel has the largest number of
    NASDAQ listed companies.

Israel has the highest average living standards in the Middle The per
capita income in 2000 was over $17,500, exceeding that of the UK.

On a per capita basis, Israel has the largest number of biotech
    startups.

Twenty-four per cent of Israel's workforce holds university degrees --
ranking third in the industrialized world, after the United States and
Holland - and 12 per cent hold advanced degrees.

Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.

In 1984 and 1991, Israel airlifted a total of 22,000 Ethiopian Jews at
risk in Ethiopia, to safety in Israel.

When Golda Meir was elected Prime Minister of Israel in 1969, she
became the world's second elected female leader in modern times.

When the U. S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya was bombed in 1998, Israeli
rescue teams were on the scene within a day -- and saved three victims from
    the rubble.

Israel has the third highest rate of entrepreneurship -- and the
highest rate among women and among people over 55 - in the world.

Relative to its population, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing
nation on earth. Immigrants come in search of democracy, religious freedom,
    and economic opportunity.

Israel was the first nation in the world to adopt the Kimberly process,
an international standard that certifies diamonds as "conflict free."

Israel has the world's second highest per capita of new books.

Israel is the only country in the world that entered the 21st century
with a net gain in its number of trees, made more remarkable because this was
achieved in an area considered mainly desert.

Israel has more museums per capita than any other country.

Medicine... Israeli scientists developed the first fully computerized,
no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer.

An Israeli company developed a computerized system for ensuring proper
administration of medications, thus removing human error from medical
    treatment.

Every year in U. S. hospitals 7,000 patients die from treatment
    mistakes.

Israel's Givun imaging developed the first ingestible video camera, so
small it fits inside a pill. Used to view the small intestine from the
inside, the camera helps doctors diagnose cancer and digestive disorders.

Researchers in Israel developed a new device that directly helps the
heart pump blood, an innovation with the potential to save lives among those
with heart failure. The new device is synchronized with the heart's
mechanical operations through a sophisticated system of sensors.

Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in
the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the U.S., over
70 in Japan, and less than 60 in Germany. With over 25% of its work
force employed in technical professions. Israel places first in this category
    as well.

A new acne treatment developed in Israel, the ClearLight device,
    produces a high-intensity, ultraviolet-light-free, narrow-band blue light that
causes acne bacteria to self-destruct -- all without damaging surroundings skin or
    tissue.

An Israeli company was the first to develop and install a large-scale
solar-powered and fully functional electricity generating plant, in southern
    California's Mojave Desert.

    i like posting this

Exodus 2:10 And the lad groweth, and she bringeth him in to the daughter of Pharaoh, and he is to her for a son, and she calleth his name Moses, and saith, `Because -- from the water I have drawn him.'

because it provides evidence of a few things:

a..... how ignorant your posts are on judaism

b ....... a fact few know about moses (born, raised and in the pharoahs house)

c..... and thereby reasoned comprehension as to how moses could have learned that much material, if he possibly was involved in the authorship of the torah (ie.... judaism is a egyptian based theology)

    Ooooops>........................

israel should be boycotted as to stop the funding, then perhaps BUT i doubt it would help, the oppression of others could be slowed

Your half written posts and complete butchery of the English language is helping the Zionists in Israel.

No one can debate you when they can't understand what you're trying to get across.

    Supporters of the Palestinian causes of justice and freedom will be very interested to note the opposition's reliance upon the authority of IMF infomation with regard to Israel's state of health. It should be amusing to witness the writhing of hypocrites when faced with the authority of the IMF with regard to Palestine's state of health;

You're only using the IMF when it supports your side. Weren't you happy when Egypt told the IMF to screw off?

I'll have to do a search.

LOL, here goes the "evils of occupation" myth. As it turns out these mean evil Zionists let the Arabs govern themselves and develop pretty strong economy and government institutions.

Of course the real issues of a Palestinian state have nothing to do with the economy but with security, terrorism, borders, holy sites, the right of return... That the West Bank economy is strong and getting stronger is well known to any unbiased observer.

So you support the IMF view of Palestine's preparedness for Statehood. Box ticked. Your personal views aren't relevant to the UN.

Bollox. I'm not using the IMF as an authority on anything. Anybody sharp will have noted that already, particularly as I emphasized it. It was used as an authority in post #4- but not by me. It was your pal Borat, I believe. My post which quotes the IMF was simply the serving of Borat's lunch.
