Liberals and conservatives are always going to be around. No need to spread secessionist BS unless you want to secede the country from major cities.
Urban, suburban and rural people need each other for their well being. Separation would make things worse.

Yes, liberals and conservatives.

Liberals are a rapidly-vanishing breed, being replaced by 'progressives', which is the modern term for that political tendency which has a deep hatred of existing society and no loyalty to it. Liberals don't burn flags, liberals don't physically attack conservative meetings, liberals don't teach a history of America in the schools that focuses on all the bad things ....

Times are changing.

Conservatives who think "Well, we'll win one, they'll win one, it will go back and forth, just as it always have", are fooling themselves.
Historians have a term, "American exceptionalism" -- rafts of PhDs have been written about why, for example, the US never had a mass labor-socialist movement like the Europeans did. Various explanations have been given -- the frontier, the ethnic mix of the working class, American prosperity in general .... whatever the truth, these things are running out.

And we are going to be subjected to enormous shocks -- for one thing, at some point, it will become shockingly obvious that we are now Number Two in the world, militarily.

The Left has finally discovered the core weakness of the US. For a century, they thought it was class. But it's race. They think they'll be able to inflame the non-white minorities, while the whites bow their heads and repeat the things they've been taught for the last fifty years. I'm skeptical about that ... and if identity politics ever catches on among the whites, we will have a political catastrophe.

Better to negotiate a peaceful separation. We can still get the advantages of the division of labor ...mainly-rural American states and mainly-urban American states work fine because they trade with each other ... and so will a 'Red America' (which will indeed be mainly rural and small town), and 'Blue America'.

And we'll have more energy to do constructive things, instead of fighting with each other.

Our Progressive friends can move forward with the social experiment, lots free things for anyone who can make across their undefended borders, everyone riding bicycles, etc.

All the horrible white racists, whose racism is the only reason the Black population doesn't thrive, will leave for Red America. Blue America will stop subsidizing Red America, as I'm told it does now, so we will starve, and Blue America will get the pleasure of watching. Hey, what's not to like?

 

Because he has to run the Countrty and keep citizens updated and assured things are ok.....


If he self quartined the headlines would be "Is it selfish for the President to quartine himself when the country needs him?"

Keep trying to score political points instead of helping.... American people are watching

Thanks, and another poster reminded me that good sense is to stay clear of others when you have a bug. Looked it up and they're saying stay away from people for at least a day AFTER you're feeling better. Happily there is a lot toilet paper in my house already. So, there's that. And video games.

Is Trump showing symptoms? Is the test a cure? Why be so anal about all this? Has Pelosi and others been tested for TDS? They show the symptoms! No cure for that either. It must run it's course.

I've just discovered ''Braindead'' on Amazon Prime. Great sci-fi political comedy about alien brain-eating bugs infecting the halls of power in DC.
Well worth a watch once you have finished Preacher.
''Loudermilk'' is laugh out loud funny too if you run out of things to watch.

 

It's their only chance.

 

Those two would kick the bucket long before Trump if they all got it.

Scariest thing about getting into a TV show: what if it lets you down at the end? So, 3 episodes to go. This is the last Season. I'll try to let you know if it disappoints. So far, Season 4 has been a hoot. Well worth watching.

 

Not particularly. I'd much rather watch him seethe if he loses in November. It would be the most epic of meltdowns, once in a star's age. I'm tending to believe he's going to win, but it's still up in the air. But that meltdown will be absolute gold if he loses.

Unfortunately his death from the virus would cause a real tangible panic. I'm personally not somebody that wants him to die and I don't particularly enjoy when some of my fellow Americans wish that he would. Even amongst his many transgressions I can't quite see anything that would warrant a death sentence.

 

That may be true, but I would rather the President won reelection by kicking their asses in the voting booths. Not by them kicking the bucket.
