Launch of nukes requires confirmation by the Secretary of Defense, but if he doesn't consent, the President can unilaterally sack the SoD and appoint a new one. All Trump has to do is keep a few nutjobs around him and he's probably going to eventually get one that says "Hell yeah! Can't wait to watch England BURN!!!"

On CNN today, the head of one of the major Conservative superPACS was advocating for a revolt of trump.

This won't be the last episode like this and trump is even more of a moron than I already know he is if he thinks he can walk this back. He can't and he can't win without Hispanics....and he decimated any chance of that which wasn't going to happen anyway.

All the president does is authorize the release of the weapons and provide half the codes. We have a two man system in place for a reason so he can't simply just fire the SOD to launch weapons. The JCOS are also involved in this and congress would immediately get involved.

The president would never get control of the other half of codes or get new ones issued without the support of the JCOS. If he tries firing all of them there would be a major problem.
