    So the 'geniuses' just let the SOB burn to the ground and collapse anyway. Real smart.

    If they would have used a helicopter early on, they could have saved most of that building. That and if the firetrucks pumped water in the first 2 hours. Pathetic all around....

    Trumpers are confused over this matter. During the Cheney-Bush presidency, they were converted into hating France.
    And now they're supposed to sympathize? Most will hate France until the end of their days, because France wouldn't
    follow us down the rabbit hole in Iraq. Which showed how much smarter France was, during that needless trillion dollar
    Republican-led debacle.

    They saved the towers....wooo hooo! The towers are mostly stone....that's a clue. And the fire started on the other end of the building and burned everything but the towers....another clue.

    I'm an architecture college grad/builder. The decision was easy. Those people are idiots. Sorry if that doesn't fit your Trump bashing agenda.

    I know nothing about architecture except Notre Dame is noted for its flying buttresses.

    Just thinking of the art and history lost there...

    Awesome news and awesome photos!

    Photos show center of Notre Dame cathedral miraculously intact

    Photos from inside Notre Dameshow the central part of the historic Gothic cathedral still intact.

    Rows of wooden pews and much of the nave appears to have been saved, according to the images.

    “Only a small part of the vault collapsed. Interior seems relatively untouched. Hallelujah!” wrote @CathedralNotre.

    Still, a massive hole can be seen in the 850-year-old cathedral’s roof. The pictures also show smoke emanating from the chancel, the area around the altar.

    Why would a country that is dedicated to becoming a Muslim country in a generation or two bother to build back a Christian Cathedral.......seems it would be more prudent to just build a Mosque and ‘be on the right side of history’.........right?

    Maybe, but proper reconstruction & restoration will be time consuming. They can certainly put a temporary roof on and weatherproof it relatively quickly, but there is a lot of time consuming work to be done.

    Yay! All artwork saved, all relics saved.... The damage is bad, very bad but at least we saved some priceless works and they can rebuild. Can they rebuild?
