'A west Houston gun store was the target of another attempted smash and grab overnight, but even a big U-Haul truck could not break through. Full Armor Firearms on the Katy Freeway was hit around 4 a.m. Monday morning. Three guys in a stolen U-Haul truck tried ramming through the front doors traveling about 15 mph. Thick metal and concrete posts outside kept the truck from breaking more than a front window. The three men got away. "We've been attempted burglary a lot of times but they never get anything. Twenty-one times. Twenty-one times we've been hit in six years," owner James Hillin said.' http://abc13.com/robbers-target-west-houston-gun-store-21-times-in-6-years/3353553/ http://abc13.com/news/employee-fires-ar-15-at-gun-range-burglary-suspects/1706211/ http://abc13.com/hpd-guard-shoots-3-men-trying-to-break-into-gun-store/3354929/ gun control's very predictable consequences...a very profitable and dangerous black market...nice work
Wow, I'd hate to have his insurance rate. Still glad they got nothing. The gun store I know well added these large cement planters for just this reason, (smash and grab) . They are 4' square and 42" tall weight 1800lbs empty, filled them with sand, fabric barrier, top soil and flowers they are probably close to 5000lbs each. They have 8 of them in front the store and on both side of the door.
You know, there used to be a time when people didn't have to take all these efforts to "keep guns away from the bad guys". If someone committed a bank robbery, they went to prison, then were eventually released (after a long time). If they wanted to buy a gun then they could do so (although in many cases they were so old by the time they got out they didn't feel up to committing any more crime). If they killed someone during one of these robberies, they got the death penalty. People didn't have to take all these extraordinary precautions to lock away their guns (except to keep them out of the hands of small children who didn't know any better). There were many parts of the country where people could just leave their rifles in the back of a pickup truck unattended for an hour, it wasn't uncommon. Now I'm not in favor of locking up all criminals in prison for a long time, but there's got to be a third way. Like send them off to an island for something. In ancient times they used to have a place of refuge, a city or region where the criminals would be exiled to under pain of death.
