In a bit of good news from yesterday's election, California, Nevada, and Massachusetts all voted t omake recreational marijuana legal.

In addition to these states voting to make recreational marijuana legal, 3 others voted to allow marijuana for medicinal purposes which is typically a gateway to full legalization:

That brings the number of states to 7 that have legalized weed for recreational purposes. 14 states have decriminalized marijuana to various degrees. The rest are a hodgepodge of differing levels of legality such as allowing medical use but forbidding sale of marijuana (I'm assuming a few sources are approved for sale).

Good stuff. Now if we could just get the DEA to stop acting like marijuana is the most dangerous drug ever we could get rid of this pointless prohibition. I don't see the DEA voluntarily giving up a cash cow though. It would be like them no longer stealing and selling peoples stuff via civil forfeiture.

Meh, as a California resident, the legality of weed isn't what keeps me from using it.

True but weed being legal means the police can't just knock on your door, arrest you, and sell your house because you were growing a plant. Unfortunately the DEA can still do that, but at a state level it's not an issue.

None of this changes the fact that MJ is an illegal drug.

States legalizing marijuana is a liberal anti gun/anti Second Amendment scam and stupid people fell for it. Federal statue says if you have used marijuana with in ten years it's a felony to own, purchase or be in possession of a firearm.

Giving up your constitutional rights to consume a weed !!! These people should be forbidden from voting for ten years.

I voted for this yesterday, glad it passed.

Although it's funny that they legalize weed while taxing cigarettes and banning plastic bags. Clearly liberals legalized weed because they liked it, not because they didn't like the Government telling them not to have it.

Prop 205 was a failure here in AZ, i guess the prison lobbies and the religious right still have a stranglehold on our polls...

But at least we got the sick man known as joe arpio out of office so the year hasn't been a total waste for this state.

More like that unnecessary test to assert a constitutional right should be removed.

If you believe this will stop the cartel's multi-billion dollar industry, you are sadly mistaken. All that money earmarked for the schools will never get there either. We shall see what happens within the next couple of years.

But most low information voters were unaware what happened in Colorado after recreational marijuana was legalized.

I seriously wonder if a Trump administration will keep the Feds out of State's marijuana affairs like Obama did.

I have relatives in Colorado and they haven't seen any increase in any of these things. Weed is no more dangerous than alcohol, which is sold everywhere. And we generally want a smaller Government, right? Prohibition of weed is a waste of resources. We should be arresting gang members instead.

The DEA would lose a lot of power and funding if they declared that marijuana was not dangers. Always follow the money and power.

There's always the point of diminishing returns including too small govt! We need more temptations available for OUR youth as there are already too many 11-12 yo alchoholics..

Yaaaay! Less Government employees we need to hire and setup pensions for in order to monitor a plant that is coming over from Mexico!

If parents raise their kids right they have little to fear. It's called personal responsibility. I thought we didn't need the Government to enforce personal responsibility?
