Sure ... if the hated minority is only strong or loud enough, then they have taken over something. I know this phrase form the past at other issues of course, for example are we 80 million Germans taken over by 1 million refugees which we let in ... and in general are we taken over by all sort of "Aliens" which are not even 10% of total population and including Europeans from neighbors as for example 1.5 million people from Poland alone, which are of course a threat for our culture and life.. I know ...

Oh, how I wish that California would leave the nation, and take all of Oregon and Washington State west of the Cascade Mountains with them! If there was a serious effort for this to really happen, and we who remained in the U. S. were told that American citizens would have to pay $1,000 each to get rid of these hyperliberal, radical socialist cesspools, I'd pay the money with tears of gratitude in my eyes!

The only condition? Absolutely NO immigration from any of those regions at all, for any reason! Migration from California beginning in the 1990's is what RUINED Colorado, and the infection that has nested primarily in the Denver/Boulder corridor has turned what was always a sensible, conservative state into what we see today -- a Blue disease (along with New Mexico) that is surrounded by Red states....

We have in Germany for sure still some specialists from Eastern Germany who will help you to build a proper "2nd Berlin Wall and Inner German frontier with minefields and self shooting machines" to guard the borders then to prevent any illegals. Ok, these installations were in origin faced to the inside of East Germany and not to West Germany because letting no one un-allowed out, but hey ... who cares at least if facing to the outside?
Will only kill some leftie, liberal hippie un-American scum who are so stubborn and impudent not to follow your political believing and wanting to enter your new "United States of Rest America" where only 1 political party is communism like acting and being the power ... because who else will be allowed to be real opposition and having the balls to have other opinions as those one you will allow to have?

They'll use pesos for currency if they secede. Might as well call it Mexifornia (Brewskier's trademark name).

The bigger question would be, does the rest of America even care enough to step in. California would quickly become a third world arm of Mexico.

The last time democrats tried to secede it was because they wanted to keep their slaves.

I guess history does repeat itself.

Blacks can now come off the plantation and it scares the democrats to death.

They wouldn't need to protect their border from Americans trying to enter. But being that it's California, they would allow anyone to come over there if they followed their current ideology.

Not if they join Mexico. Which is the whole point of the invasion, and secession movement, in the first place.

It is true in Kalifornia, in the rest of the United States, and in Germany... "Whatever you tolerate you will get MORE of...." Slowly but surely, I begin to understand how and why an educated, industrious, cultured people like Germans could finally become so angry and frustrated that they turned everything over to a all-powerful Führer and said, "SCHLUSS JETZT!"

Actually, Texas is the one State that can secede according to the original charter that made Texas a State. And any State can secede with the approval of Congress.

I would completely support the West Coast seceding. I am sick of having to compromise with people who don't share the same values or belief in American excellence. America has chosen evil. I want no part of it. All of those red States can have their Nazi State. Those of us on the West Coast aspire to higher standards and American values.

Indeed ... There are parallels between all populists who have won or probably will win democratic elections.

In your opinion ... and even I don't agree with you, I accept your opinion.

I think it shows people are worried and the constant mocking and jeering is not helping

Yes there are already indications that Trump will try to silence objectors

Better than Texas, CA has the eighth largest economy in the world, not just the US.

Texas has only recently become a paying state, that is they finally started to give back more to the US than they get in Federal Aid. California has been paying the bills for most of the USA going on the better part of this century and most of the latter last.

They aren't going to leave, that's as silly as Texas going, I will admit. But California has a lot better case for leaving than does Texas and a whole lot better ability to actually survive if they did. For one thing they control nearly absolutely most of our trade with Asia, so we might not be able to invade them at all without crippling our entire economy, a substantial part of which is in CA to begin with.

Joel Furneax in The Nine Nations of North America, includes California, Oregon and Washington State as the main components of a region he calls "Ecotopia" . Texas is split up among 3 other regions.

Californians would be paying through the nose for water, and without bending to potentially wildly expensive 'trade agreements' or contracts with neighboring water providing states, a huge part of their economy, agriculture, could literally be turned to dust.

Consider that the billion dollar Carlsbad Desalination Project is expected to satisfy only 7% of San Diego County's annual water demand. Hundreds and hundreds of plants would be needed.... to dot Cali's cherished and pristine coastline. NIMBY would be their national anthem.

Be careful what you wish for, morons.

(Too, between 15 and 30 percent of California's electricity is currently provided by outside sources. There's potentially billions more in infrastructure costs.)

This is the something I am finding most distressing. Trump and his supporters ran a very bitter and divisive campaign and now they are showing no sign that they are going to be any less bitter and divisive. This is one of the hallmarks of the modern dictator. He does not have loyal opposition who he will try to work with, he has enemies, who must be annihilated.

A lot of the people who are (or were, it seems to have calmed now) rioting, are scared. Trump's supporters (and Trump's according to his latest Tweets on Hamilton) responses are giving them more cause to fear, rather than making any attempt to allay them.

Eh, I wouldn't fear Trump or his supporters. Trump is all mouth, and 90% of the things he said was an attempt to pander to the GOP's low information constituency. His "presidency" is a social experiment any way, and once everyone sees what a clown he is, whether it's in 4 or 8 years, the establishment GOP will take back their party, and Trump's presidency will be sent straight into the trash bin once the next president takes over, GOP or DEM, doesn't matter.

Establishment GOP hates Trump with a passion.

They'll let him embarrass himself, while they find a REAL candidate to back in the future. Trump will be a footnote in history, a blip on the radar and a one time example of erratic idiots gaining political power.

Trump can't possibly embarrass himself more than the GOP establishment has embarrassed itself.
