Yes, racism leads to less trust, along with media pounding negative stories which seem centered around people of color doing bad things (coming from a white talking head, no less), etc. You can see that most of the radicals here can't stand anyone, not even a white dude with a nice tan he got on the beach during the summer. This is demonstrably false. We've made the false equation of "all immigrants" to immigration production. As an example, most of our scientific and educational development came from two specific groups: German-Americans(30% of the Caucasian-Americans) as well as Asian-Americans(roughly 9% of the total population). Or basically, we can sum it up like this: Our "melting pot"(the one that succeeded) is a melting pot of fellow Europeans as well as the Asian communities. The others, whether they be Muslims or Spanish or African-American, have for the most part benefited from but haven't really devoted much to the American Continent. America is a English-European country, the fact that we've forgotten this(and have forgotten the immigrants who truly have changed America) is one of the main reasons the homeland's collapsed.
Cultural diversity has some benefits mostly related to food, music, art and literature. Its downsides is importing primitive practices that might be practiced in that culture. Female circumcision and Honor Killings being a couple of the more high profile idiocies of the developing world. Religious diversity, is fine here in the US because of how we are set up but frankly it isn't working very well in the rest of the world. Political diversity.......same as above although modern developed nations are mostly politically stable even if we don't like their politics. So long as every group in the country adheres to some basic societal norms there really isn't a downside and as someone who love food, especially forner foods, I would hate to loose out on all that deliciousness from around the world. Its when we allow the more savage practices to filter in unchecked that problems arise.
