The purpose of government from government's point of view is to gain more power and control. It is true of all governments.

 

The purpose of the second amendment was to provide for the citizens to be able defend themselves from an authoritarian government. The governor of Michigan has become authoritarian.

 

One good thing comes from this: It openly shows the idiocy of some politicians and anti-gun advocates. I challenge Trudeau to show one firearm that is not "assault style." Has there ever been a firearm that was incapable of being used in an assault? Or for that matter, a knife, shovel, pickax, axe, rake, or heavy pot, etc? Did he select the weapons to be banned by using the Feinstein criteria: "that sure looks like a mean rifle to me." I would also challenge him to name one registered gun owner with a military weapon, though he does use that slippery phrase "military-grade" whatever that means. It, along with numerous other examples, also highlights the supreme benefit of our Constitution.

We do not live in constant fear of being attacked or that our freedoms will be taken away.

That's why there are relatively few owners of semi-automatic rifles.

We Canadians have looked at what is going on in your country and we have long understood that the gun proliferation is a very serious social problem.

So we decided to do as many other countries that enforce strict gun laws to drastically reduce the chances of mass shooting.

And it works.
