Nova Scotia, New Brunswick rely on equalization while shunning resource development

We hear so little about our neighbors to the north that I thought I'd share this story. The Equalization Policy surprised me – distributing money from wealthier provinces to poorer ones. Show a major difference between their system and ours. Some form of socialism?

saskatchewan until fairly recently was a recipient of equalization payments, and ontario was a major contributor...a shift in manufacturing to global sources and the rise of energy prices changed the dynamics...we're all canadians and the process works, some day when energy shifts away from fossil fuels to renewable energy alberta will likely become a recipient...alberta's economy sucks, it's driven by short term greed, it's embarrassing that Norway with a similar population to alberta has accumulated a pension fund of nearly $900 billion for the day it runs out of oil, alberta mired in debt, crumbling infrastructure has a meager $17 billion...so much for the myth capitalist conservatives(alberta) are better financial managers than socialists(norway)...and has Norways quality of living suffered? nope not a bit...
