Check out this article, that quotes the CEO of Pearson Airport (Toronto) on why Canadian airports are so expensive and inefficient. The gist: that Canada's regulatory agencies (including customs and immigration) are cumbersome, and diminish the attractiveness of Canadian airports as a "hub." I hadn't realized there was so much money in being an attractive lay-over destination for airliners. What do you think? Is it worth making competitive airports a political priority in Canada?
