Welcome!! Years ago I was in a Golden Retriever forum....we started getting political (beyond the dog food brands) and it got a little too much and was told to take politics elsewhere. So that is how i found this place.

    Look forward to your posts.

Yes, well, I notice that the food fights on pet forums get awfully lengthy and heated over whether dry food, wet food, or raw food is best. Policing partisan-extremist pet food ideologies is tough enough on those moderators without bringing in human politics. :p

    Thanks for the welcome!

Cats are all about the same, but dogs are very different. Breed matters bigly with dogs, but not with cats, so dog talk always includes the breed.

Almost every stray cat around the USA is just a "domestic" of some type. DSH (domestic short hair), DMH, DLH. Occasionally a Siamese mix is a stray. Something like a persian is very rare as a stray. People who pay for purebred cats don't set them loose as strays.

Welcome. A lot of the political discussion here seems to be reduced to ideological trench warfare, unfortunately, along with a few kooks offering the Pravda perspective, especially in the World News section.

I'm down to talk cats or politics. I've got three of them at present. One is a long-haired little terrorist, the others are short-hair females. All are fixed and stay indoors the vast majority of the time.

Welcome to the zoo.* There are a couple of pet threads here and there, where politics are put a side and everyone acts like a human.

    *animal connotation intentional.

I like how your cat is leaving one claw in you as a warning.

Three is a very good number of cats. Every time I get below that and think, "Two..or one...is enough, I seem to end up back at three within a short time.

    Thank you for the welcome!

Thank you for the welcome! I don't think it's appropriate to name another forum specifically. Don't want to "advertise". :)

I was going to stick with just two, but the third one showed up one night starving. My motion light was activated one evening and I caught a glimpse of her, a thin black kitten. When I opened the door and called, she came running, just as friendly as could be. The other two I got as a free kitten and as a pet store adoptee, respectively. The little orange terrorist was the adoptee. I named him Gizmo after the mogwai in Gremlins, and a gremlin he is :D It was originally just because his fluffy, round-eyed kitten face made me think of it, though.

Pretty Boy is a large, Orange & White like the image above.
Very social with strangers and other people.
Initiates such "play" with the two other cats.

One small gray, tiger stripped neutered female I adopted with Pretty Boy
and a same coat, 18 lb neutered female who was supposed to
be pregnant and I was going to foster. "Kitty" and Pretty Boy became such friends I decided to keep her. Pretty Boy worked hard to win her over and rebuffed with warning hisses for months.
On repeated invitations to be friends they got involved in silent
wrestling. Little Floosie now does it too, but only with Pretty Boy.
    Floosie doesn't like big "Kitty".

    Gotta go

We are happy to have you with us. There are a lot of really good people here even if they sound like they're at war with each other from time to time. There are many forums to choose from, so let's get out there and have fun! :)

Thank you! I am having fun. No wars....I think most people are "good people" regardless of extreme political differences and a little mud slinging. Mud washes off easily. :)
