I long ago quit going to movies because of constant cell phone ringing and talking. My favorite Mediterranean restaurant is frequented by old men who have their ringers on max volume. And of course they have to take every call. "HELLO?? HELLOOO???" I'll have to start calling in my orders and getting the food to go. HELLLLLLOOOOOO????
The teenie boppers who run the registers at my local Food Lion are bad about standing there texting when they should be punching keys on other things.....like the register so my swipedy swipe gets approved.
Absolutely hate someone using a cell phone while driving. I want to scream at them, "Put that phone down." There ought to be a national law against talking on a cell phone and driving. Even seen a few texting. REALLY.
States with laws against cell phone/texting while driving have an elevated risk of accidents with them. Why? People still text, but they try to conceal it, which is even more dangerous. I say punish harshly (I mean things like manslaughter) for accidents caused while texting.
I'm young and I still find the omnipresence of cell phones disturbing. I get irritated with my wife because she always has hers, and is always looking at it, even in the middle of a conversation. It's just a trend I've noticed with people that bothers me to no end.
It is dangerous, I have blue tooth in my car with voice command it is only used when the car is stopped.
Not denying that it's dangerous. My point is that when we pass laws to stop the dangerous behavior, the unintended consequence is to produce even more dangerous behavior. I'd rather have people texting in the open than trying to conceal it.
The cars with touch screens are worse! I miss the old knobs and buttons where you could FEEL the volume knob without taking your eyes off the road.
The cars with touch screens probably have volume controls on the steering wheel. They just moved the buttons.
There is a whole layered menu - for climate control, or if you are changing from radio to satellite to aux, etc. Can't do it all on the steering wheel. It's many times more distracting than a cell phone - which IS on the steering wheel.
Do cars exist with only the touch screens, without knobs? My wife's car (Mitsubishi Outlander) has a touch screen for most controls, but does have a conventional volume button. The Hyundai Santa Fe I rented last week had the same setup.
I absolutely hate smartphones and can't stand the iDiots who are constantly glued to their portable screens. I use a budget cellphone, a real phone, one with buttons. It does all I want it to do; calling and texting. I am of course "mocked" for it by friends, but I don't care.
