So people were hungry in the USA in the 1930's during the Great Depression.
This excuses the mass killing of people by Lennin, Stalin and Mao by using
    food as a weapon.
    This is moral equivalency.

You are making loud statements against Lenin and Stalin. But can you prove it?
Give me at least one real piece of evidence. Once again - at least one (!!!)
If you are accused of being guilty of the spread of the coronavirus. Will you require proof?

I'm glad you were pleased to remember.

You write that many Germans came to you and told "horrible stories" about "bloody" Russians. The question arises - are you Mother Teresa?
It's hard for me to imagine that local residents come to a soldier of the occupation army (in fact, the American military contingent is the occupation troops) and talk about the sore point. Do you think locals in Iraq also come to the American military as to psychologists?
But even if such facts were, it does not mean anything. For example, in Afghanistan, some Afghans collaborated with the United States, others collaborated with the Taliban. And judging by what happened, there were much more Taliban supporters. Is not it?

Lennin was the first Communist to understand that food could
be a political weapon. Mao was the master of it. North Korean
starvation is more about incompetence and the failure of their
    political system.
The Communists/Bosheviksi/Socialists took control of people's
land. This wouldn't be allowed in a liberal democracy. Farmers
are now state workers - whether you plant or don't plant - you
get paid. And you leave your tractor out in the rain because it
doesn't belong to you. And if the state tells you to plant what
you don't want to plant - you don't plant it. This is where Stalin's
brutality came to the fore in the crushing of the rural peasants.

No, son, I am NOT Mother Theresa. How dare you ask such a silly question. I served my country in uniform for over 20 years. I have had a Soldier, cut to ribbons by an IED in Iraq, die in my arms. I have seen a classmate torn to shreds as the helicopter he was piloting NOE come out of a treeline into the path of a vehicle and in an effort to save the driver, sacrifice his own life with an unsafe maneuver.

If you think that the Russians nailing a woman to a barn and raping her multiple times in the same category as these events, then I am wasting my time talking to you. If you think disgust at such barbaric behavior makes one "Mother Theresa" then we are so different in our worldview that there is no reason for further discussion.

In the 1970's and 1980's the American Army in Germany was not viewed as an "occupation army" by Germans.... just left wing radical Americans. The Germans were glad to see us there, welcomed us as defenders and, oh by the way, friends and welcome customers in their stores and restaurants. Many of us made German friends that remain our friends to this day. Many of the friends I made in those days have come to visit here in the US and I have visited them in Germany. When Germans would tell us about the horrors of the advancing Russian Army, it was no way an exercise in psychology. It was friends sharing experiences. I know that psychologists hold many Americans together these days. But in my life, discussion of experiences, good and bad, between friends wasn't for mental health, it was simply an exchange of experience and ideas between friends. I guess if one views that as a therapy session, America has lost a lot.

When I was in Iraq I also made many friends. My I-T ("Interpreter-Translator") was a great young guy, Baghdad University grad, named Ayman. Although many of us tried to get Ayman permission to move to the USA, it was denied. Even so, he came and visited some of us (including me) on his way to his new home in Australia. We still communicate often.

The cowardly American retreat from Afghanistan, the resultant arming of the Taliban terrorists with American weapons, and the abandonment of both American citizens and our allies to the Taliban had nothing to do with interaction between US Forces and the Afghani people. It was purely a cowardly act of a radical left wing administration that cares nothing for freedom, peace, or people. There is no connection to personal relationships in Afghanistan. It is all about cowardice, treason, and incompetence in Washington, DC.

So it turns out - in fact, you have nothing but anti-Soviet slogans. You cannot find any REAL proof of your words.
I can show you a photocopy of a report for Khrushchev on the number of those arrested and executed for the period from 1921 to 1954. After the seizure of power, Khrushchev was looking for incriminating evidence and negative facts against Stalin. But this report shows the opposite. In reality, there was no massive repression. If you like, I can show you a photocopy of this report.
The material for Khrushchev was prepared by the Minister of Justice of the USSR, the Prosecutor General of the USSR and the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR.

    A few questions.
    1. What were the American soldiers doing in Iraq? Did you find Saddam Hussein's Chemical Weapons in Iraq? If not, what were American soldiers doing in a sovereign country? Why did an American soldier die in your arms? What did your classmate die for?
    2. You write that the Germans were glad to see you in Germany. Was the German RAF happy to see you too?
    3. Who controls Afghanistan now? Why did American citizens die in Afghanistan?
    4. Who gave the US government the right to invade Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria .... etc?
Do you understand that American citizens (in this case, the military) do not die for the interests of their country? Do you understand that American citizens die for the sake of corporations interests? Do you understand that in a capitalist society the government of the United States, Germany, Russia .... (any capitalist country) does not care about the interests of the citizens, they care about the interests corporations?
There is a classical definition of the concept of "state" - "the state (any) is the dictatorship of the ruling class in the interests of the ruling class."
In a slave society, the ruling class is the slave owner. And the state will do everything in the interests of the slave owners. In a feudal society, the ruling class is the feudal lords. And the state will do everything in the interests of the feudal lords. In a capitalist society, the state will do everything in the interests of oligarchs and corporations .... In a socialist society, the ruling class is the proletariat. Consequently, the state will do everything in the interests of the working man.

    1. American Soldiers were in Iraq in response to 9/11. Sadaam actively supported terrorism. Indeed, he offered rewards for terrorists that killed Israelis. Did you ever hear the name "Klinghoffer"? Mr Klinghoffer was in a wheelchair on a civilian cruise ship. He was thrown overboard and murdered by terrorists that took over the ship. We found the terrorist responsible in a condo in Baghdad, under the protection and care of Sadaam. Sadaam supported ISIS, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations. But the bottom line is that we were there because CONGRESS APPROVED IT. Our elected representatives approved the action, which has many complexities... too many to list here.

Iraq had a nuclear program: there WAS yellow cake and a nuke program in Iraq - nbcnews. com/id/25546334/ns/world_news-mideast_n_africa/t/secret-us-mission-hauls-uranium-iraq/

When I was training the NEW Iraqi Army, every Kurdish trainees had stories of how their towns had been attacked by Sadaam and they had lost relatives and friends to his use of LIQUEFIED SOMAN, a Russian chemical nerve agent weapon.

The Soldier that died in my arms was the victim of a terrorist IED which hit her vehicle. My classmate gave his life for freedom. Dying in preparation for war is just as selfless and patriotic as dying in battle defending one's country.

    2. Germans don't have an RAF. The RAF is the British Royal Air Force. But the German Air Force is our ally too. If you're ever in the vicinity of El Paso, drop by the Army's "Biggs Field". You'll see a large contingent of the German Air Force training there. In fact, there is a fairly large German Air Force community there at Fort Bliss. They have family housing, schools, shops, and so forth. Its tough to conduct aerial exercises in the crowded skies over Europe. So many nations have training facilities in the USA where they can conduct TACTS/ACMI ("TOP GUN") style training.

    3. The Taliban control Afghanistan now. The country was relatively stable until the cowardly Biden turned tail and ran... sneaking away in the night.

    4. Congress authorized all the operations you listed. That's how our Republic works.

American WARRIORS are dedicated to freedom and sacrifice everything, sometimes their very lives, to protect American freedom. You have never worn the uniform and have absolutely no understanding of this concept. I am sorry that you do not understand the concept of nationalism... the wonderful ideal of patriotism. I am glad that most Americans do.

I am glad that America has transcended the feudal days, abolished slavery, and celebrates individual achievement with a meritocracy that rewards accomplishment. It is truly a society where any individual can use his/her own iitiative to succeed and accomplish prety much anything they want to accomplish, with the ensuing rewards.

The threat of socialism looms large today. A socialist society stifles individual achievement and limits personal excellence. But its easy. You get to eat and and sleep with some security. Like sheep or cows. I hope we continue to live in a free America where anyone can grow up to be President.

    1.
Sep 11 was in 2001. The invasion of Iraq took place in 2003. Obviously this is not related.
The reason for the invasion of Iraq was announced at the UN. And that was not the answer to 9/11. The reason was identified as the presence of chemical weapons in Saddam Hussein. And as it turned out later, it was a lie.
In fact, the US has plunged a sovereign country into hell under a fictitious pretext.
    2.
Do you really no know what the RAF is? How can you talk about the mood of the Germans if you do not know who the RAF are?
Especially for you - RAF - Red Army Faction, a German group known throughout the world. Serving in Germany in the 70s and not knowing who the RAF are is amazing.
    3.
Afghanistan. The United States, with the exception of its bases, did not control anything in Afghanistan. The military in Afghanistan were engaged exclusively in punitive flights, shooting peaceful villages from helicopters and guarding poppy plantations. During the occupation, Afghanistan came out on top in the world in the production of heroin.
    4.
Congress is the servants of the oligarchs. (Remember? I wrote to you above the classic definition of the concept of "state".) Therefore, Congress authorizes those decisions that are beneficial to the American oligarchs. And yes. This is how your republic is arranged.

How American wars are committed to the ideals of freedom, we have all seen in footage from Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and the like.

You obviously do not have a good grasp of military operations. It took a year to organize and transport the military force that invaded Iraq. The operation experienced delays when Turkey refused to allow passage of the 4th Infantry Division through its territory. It was originally planned that the $ID would invade Iraq from the north as other forces invaded from the south. The massive movement of huge forces is limited by the availability of transport, the organization of men and equipment and much more. Its not like putting together a game of tag. It took well over a year to organize.

As I said before, Sadaam used chemical weapons (Soviet Liquefied Soman) on the Kurds. This is well known. And he had an ongoing nuclear program ("there WAS yellow cake and a nuke program in Iraq" - nbcnews. com/id/25546334/ns/world_news-mideast_n_africa/t/secret-us-mission-hauls-uranium-iraq/) So, with the presence of a nuclear weapon program and the presence of chemical weapons in Iraq, the invasion was well justified.

Of course I've heard of the Red Army Faction. But when military people hear "RAF", they think of the British Royal Air Force, not an inconsequential radical terrorist organization. The RAF (Red Army Faction) made a name for itself causing a ruckus in Germany, but it never had the impact of the RAF which fought off the Germans in the Battle of Britain and essentially saved England. Acronyms mean different things to different people. To an Army recruit, for example, "BCT" means "Basic Combat Training".... to a seasoned Soldier "BCT" means "Brigade Combat Team". When you say "AHA!" to your civilian friend, he thinks you have discovered or thought of something. When you say AHA to a Soldier, he knows you are referring to an Ammunition Holding Area". If you are going to use acronyms, you have to explain what you mean.

Before Biden's cowardly withdrawal from Afghanistan, the nation was stable... very, very fragile, but stable. "USIP has been working on the ground in Afghanistan since 2002 and has maintained an office in Kabul since 2008. Today, our top priority is to promote an inclusive and sustainable peace process that leads to an Afghanistan that is stable and does not present a terrorist threat to the United States or others. USIP does this by implementing top-down and bottom-up initiatives to identify key issues that need to be resolved and then providing options to address them. In Washington, USIP supports the U.S. government through policy analysis that draws from our work on the ground in Afghanistan and comparative lessons from managing conflicts around the world. (https://www.usip.org/publications/2021/03/current-situation-afghanistan) Your assertion that US forces shot up peaceful villages is absolutely absurd. Even the Taliban would laugh at the scope of such ridiculous propaganda.

Your reference to "American oligarchs" is some of the craziest propaganda I have ever heard. You obviously have chosen America as an enemy, for whatever reason I don't know. I haven't heard such propaganda since the old Cold War days.

Guantanamo is a holding area for terrorists. Its in a good place. Abu Ghraib was a much more horrible place before we got there. I have walked the grounds of Abu Ghraib. Sadaam used to put a noose around the necks of his enemies. The next prisoner in line would be ordered to pull the lever on the one to be executed. If he refused, Sadaam had the prisoners family brought out with the intention of killing them in front of the man if he failed to pull the lever. All we did was put some panties on a guy's head.

Only Stalin could do this. A Bolshevik party run by someone like
Trotsky, though still very cruel, might not have had the stomach
to war against rural Russia - there being two Russias at the time,
the urban socialists and the rural conservatives.
This struggle was won by Stalin - it involved control of the food,
the gulags, exile or bullets to the back of heads. Millions died.
This informed Mao how he was to go about it - but Mao's battle
was more complicated as he had a divided party. But even here
the upper statistical limit on Chinese deaths is 80 million. Stalin's
was just a quarter of this.

To me, the American people are a friendly people. Just like the Russian people, they are a friendly people. I do not divide people by ethnicity.
I have a class approach to the definition of "friend or foe".
For example, a Russian or an American worker is closer to me than a Russian or American oligarch.
As you can imagine, I am a supporter of communist views on the development of society. And the main slogan of the communists is "unite the proletarians of all countries."

Do you realize that you absolutely do not know the real history of the USSR?
You write such strange comments on this issue that it seems that you are completely unfamiliar with reality.
I advise you to read the notes on real life in the USSR during Stalin's time, which were written by the German writer Lion Feuchtwanger. His notes are titled "Moscow 1937". First published not in Russia. https://www.revolutionarydemocracy.org/archive/feucht.htm
At least you will think before believing anti-Soviet propaganda.

Saddam did not have an "ongoing" nuclear program .. That has been established 6 ways to Sunday .. they found ZERO - Zilch - NADA w/r to an "active" program. Having some left over yellowcake left over from when he did have an active nuclear program .. is not an active program to any one that has half a clue what they are talking about.

We know he had Chemical weapons - Rottin Ronnie was supporting Saddam while using them .. and when Congress wanted to Sanction our Good Buddy Saddam for using Chemical weapons - killing thousands of Kurds - and also on Iran .. passing rapidly through the hous- near unanimous - bipartisan - but Reagan threatened Veto and it died in the house.

This was all destroyed / gotten rid of - after desert storm - again No active program .. we found some old buried unusable shells.

Surprised you don't know this -- given your "Military" background at all .. -- there is a reason why NO ONE .. (the Brits and the Maldives don't count) joined in the sht show .. The Massive "Imminent Threat" - "In the form of a Mushroom Cloud" - simply did not exist -- and everyone knew it...

BUT !! -- (do learn chess notation to better understand my posts !! = Game winning move) even if Saddam had active programs .. we had full control of his airspace and inspectors running around Iraq at the time -- .. Saddam completely contained .. and well .. contained from what .. not like he was warring with us .. at the time ..with what little he had left after the Storm. .. followed by 10 years of sanctions which crippled the nation hundreds of thousands via starvation and what not.

Now .. it is not that I care about Iraq so much -- but 911 had just happened .. and we were supposed to be going after Al Qaeda .. not creating a Jihadist Vunderland for them to inhabit .. Attacking one of Bin Ladin's blood enemies ..

What bothered me the most however .. was the 10 Trillion dollars we wasted the next 20 years - 500 Billion a year over 20 years would have been much better spent on infrastructure - technology - ramping up economy to compete in 3rd millennium... (Consider that Bidens big Infrastructure plan is 120 Billion a year .. perhaps 30% which will go to infrastructure)

Since math is not everyone's forte .. let me put it this way .. if 40 Billion a year - in todays dollars - is a big infrastructure plan -- how much better is 500 Billion a year .. in 2001 dollars .. whats that .. roughly double .. heck . that would have been like a Trillion dollar a year infrastructure plan .. for 2001 ..

Instead we threw that money down the toilet .. padding the pockets of the Oligopolies who own the Military Industrial Complex .... exactly as Eisenhower warned about in his farewell speech..

Why this Feuchtwanger guy and not someone else?
Never heard of him - but he does remind me of other 'literary' apologists
The pro-Soviet Walter Duranty in the USA and pro-North Korean Wilfred
Burchet in my Australia - both jouranalists and writers in general. Abd
    Pilger today.
There's something about the literally folk that have a soft spot for Marxism.
And many Jews once did as well - until they were mugged by reality.

    Wikipedia on Feuchtwanger

From November 1936 to February 1937 he travelled to the Soviet Union. In his book Moskau 1937, he praised life
under Joseph Stalin. Feuchtwanger also defended the Great Purge and the show trials which were then taking
place against both real and imagined Trotskyites and enemies of the state. Feuchtwanger's praise of Stalin triggered
outrage from Arnold Zweig and Franz Werfel. The book has been criticized by Trotskyites as a work of naive apologism.
Feuchtwanger's friendly attitude toward Stalin later delayed his naturalization in the United States.

That's not QUITE true. Sadaam didn't have a nuclear program because
Israeli F16's destroyed it in Operation Opera in about 1979. Same jets
might have been the ones to take out Syria's nuclear ambitions as well.

I said he had a program back in the day .. which was destroyed .. What he did not have .. was an active nuclear program when Bush invaded .. riding on the "Mushroom Cloud" horse.

    Wikipedia - is especially funny.
I’m wondering why you’re not referring to Senator McCarthy’s speeches or Dr. Goebbels’s articles?
    Have you read "Moscow 1937"?
If not, then, you must agree, to evaluate the book without reading it ...(I can not find the word so as not to be banned)
By the way, what works of Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky have you read?
I read, but did you read? If not, how can you discuss the actions of certain people?
Take, for example, Trotsky's articles - he was a great orator, but he had no ideological core at all.
First, in his article "Our Political Tasks" (1904), where he fiercely criticized the Bolsheviks and Lenin.
Then he joined the Bolshevik Party and wrote many articles in favor of the ideas of the Bolsheviks, then he moved away from communist ideals and began to promote his theories .... In general, he can be called a classic political prostitute.
Therefore, I will repeat once more - study the question.
And if you don't trust Feuchtwanger, then read the reviews about Lenin, Stalin, the Bolsheviks from .... but at least H.G. Wells, Bernard Shaw, Emile Ludwig, Romain Roland .... etc.
Read the original sources, but not the interpretation in Wikipedia and the like.
