Aspirin doesnt cause heart-disease or osteoporosis. Chemical castration is still considered cruel and unusual punishment. A much better solution is to just lock them up and throw away the key
Aspirin can cause Reye's syndrome. Have you ever given your child an aspirin? Chemical castration is not cruel and unusual punishment. It helps these men control their urges to harm children. It's no different than giving a psychotic antipsychotic meds.
I would like to lock them up and throw away the key and worse, but this is not logical thinking. They are not going to do that obviously.
The only time they would be locked up for life or given the death penalty is if they actually killed a child. I've heard of some pretty terrible cases where the judge showed INCREDIBLE leniency for the perpetrators. It is just unbelievable that white collar criminals who steal money get more time than most child molesters do.
Psychotics are COURT ORDERED to take antipsychotic medications which can also have serious side effects. Do you suggest that we stop that too?
Do those cause heart-disease or osteoporosis?? I dont know of any legal medicine that causes heart-disease or osteoporosis. I imagine if it would it would be pulled form the market pretty quick
Your argument is lame, actually. The US courts have already concluded that chemical castration constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. Thats why its currently not being used
So basically, you would rather risk the children rather than the chance that the one in a million is actually "innocent."
If we were to take what you say, then we should not lock them up either on the chance they might be innocent. Some would say being a prisoner and losing pretty much ALL of your rights would be cruel and unusual punishment. So what? No system is perfect. While it's a shame that some people are wrongly convicted, the statistics are relatively low in comparison to how many ARE guilty and claim to be innocent.
Maybe I should ask the question in another way. If you could save 10 children from child molestation, would you do it?
My answer is a definite Y-E-S! I detest child molesters, children are the future of any tribe, clan, people, nation world, so in my thinking a politician who molests children should be tried for T-R-E-A-S-O-N!
Pedophiles, The nature of pedophiles, as with all other criminals is that they relinquish their own rights vis-a-vis the acts that they commit. When a person commits a crime, they give up most of their rights, except to a fair and speedy trial and the assistance of counsel.
If you do that, that is in a way forcing the victim of his or her heinous crime to support them for the rest of their lives.
Pedophilia is the disorder that most child molesters suffer from. A pedophile is a person who has a sustained sexual orientation toward children, generally aged 13 or younger, Blanchard says. Not all pedophiles are child molesters (or vice versa). "Child molesters are defined by their acts; pedophiles are defined by their desires," Blanchard says. http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/features/explaining-pedophilia#1 So, my use of the word in describing chemical castration for PEDOPHILES is correct terminology. I am talking about the men who are attracted to children and who cannot control their urges and have molested a child or children. As I already stated earlier, plain old sadists who just use the child as an easy opportunity to harm someone should NEVER be let out of prison. They are even MORE dangerous than your plain old pedophile.
You are moving the goal posts. Just a couple of posts above you said that nobody does it. That is not true, and other states are considering it.
And how many times do you think THIS will happen? And what is not cruel and unusual about this punishment?
Sure, if you think out of the tens of thousands pedophiles who are convicted every year in the US and the half dozen or so who receive chemical castration is statistically significant, then be my guest. And I believe that tiny group is voluntarily getting CS, its not being forced upon most (or all) of them
There is nothing cruel about it, its called justice and at least its reversible if it turns out later a convicted person was innocent. I repeat, osteoporosis and heart-disease are NOT reversible, those are permanent
