I habe been concerned about China becoming a monster since TrickybDickie opened China up to us. There was a major super computer theft by Chinese "businessmen" between 2000 and 2002. Yet the beginning of Chinese theft of US technology most likely started as early as the Reagan administration and continued right through Bush I , Monika's Boyfriend, Bush II, and continues today even with the mouth of Trump claiming he is stopping it. Hell Trump asked Xi to help him with his re-election.

If one reads Apocalyptic EMP fiction the ad guys are China, North Korea, Pakistan but for some reason the fiction writers love them zone Russia and Putin so Russia is never the bad guy. Is that because Trump has pulled the wool over the eyes of not only his fan boys but of the fiction writers.m

You are correct that a lot of this crap is Constipated Conspiracy nonsense but you should not think that China or Russia is not trying to steal and develope high tech weapons that can have the same effect as an EMP. The future will bring advanced laser, plasma , controled beam electro magnetic, directed gamma ray, and weapons that science fiction writers going back to the 19th century only conceptualized.

We need to be ahead of our enemies and opponents in order to stay viable. Remember trust no one and build a better club to bludgeon the other guy.

They have become enshrined in our laws and founding documents. But more importantly, we have 2 centuries of learning both how strong, and how weak, an idea can be.

You can't hack it if it isn't connected in some way to the internet. Plain and simple. You can connect it directly to a computer that is disconnected from the internet and scan it for malware. It cannot execute malware. This isn't rocket science.

The NAS is like a spare drive that all the computers on the network can access. It is one of the best ways to handle data backups. How secure it is is up to you not to itself.
