China is working hard to become supreme in STEM.

In 2018 China ranked first in Math Proficiency for 15 year olds. The US was 25th.

China identifies and nurtures mathematical talent in middle school.

The US has dumbed its public school math curriculum with many districts eliminating advanced classes in mathematics.

American universities now have a political requirement (commitment to DEI) in order to advance and gain tenure.

And while this happens, in the U.S. one major political party bans books, attacks public education and teachers, and tries to undermine any plan that would allow more people to get college degrees.

I said it before: one characteristic all Empires in history have in common when they fall is that they undermine education. And that is what is happening to us now.

Sure. Prevent the grooming of K-3rd graders and the empire falls!

    Parents are breaking R+35

Republicans in hot races put Democrats on defense over strict COVID-19 policies.

    'Lockdown Karens'

Fauci arranged US funding for the Chinese creation of COVID 19 and then concealed it's origins.

And too many Dems supported Force Masking and Force Vaccination of Children. They did it before, if parents do not make their voices heard next week, they'll do it again. Thank goodness states like FL are shutting down the classroom to operating table pipeline that destroys the genitals of our children.

Do some Dems have a real problem with Humans reproducing or something? Is that why parents are dealing with all this animosity and aggression from the Democrat Teachers Unions?

A lot of China's rise has been on the US's back. If we start to reduce that relationship, well, look at what happened to Japan's economy when we moved our industrial base from Japan to China. Japan has never recovered, it's economic vigor.

Good for you if you live in a state where Democrats are in charge of education. I don't have that privilege. I live in Florida. Here we are already re-entering the Dark Ages. Stay away from fascism, and your state might be one of the few exceptions. Though I doubt that will carry the whole country for long.

democrats are banning books and have been for awhile. Things like Dr. Seuss, and Amazon. Jeffrey Bezzos is one of the richest people in the World, and a huge liberal donor.

democrat politicians want to brainwash their students, and we can see this, with them teaching crt, and trans, to grade schoolers. Just think what they're teaching to college educated adults?

things like HEAVY BDSM CLASSES, THAT'S WHAT! yes, I live in a very liberal corrupt state, of Illinois. Where the democrats own chicago, and could care less about black on black crime there.

why is it, that in liberal states, that the school systems are so aweful, especially in black and hispanic mainly districts? I thought the liberals loved the minorities, but then why are their test scores always so low? is it white suppression?

where is all the tax payers money going? when democrat politicians promise to help minority schools? cause obviously they aint going to help smarten them up!!! lol

the local school boards in my state were taken over by bobby jindal , who established charter schools, vouchers, and fired the union teachers by hiring young "teach for america" program people.

guess what? education is no better here than in more rational states.

How does math proficiency translate into technological supremacy? The US has and largely is technology supreme or right up there. We've been that way for a while. Have ever been number one is math proficiency? Did you not think that the US could import that proficiency from China by offering a nation that lets those individuals live more the way they want to? As such, we don't need to make sure everyone is proficient in math? Did you also consider there are other skills that help technology develop, not just being a math nerd?

Being good at school is fine and all, but how that's measured and what the actual real life results are also matter. If one values being good at school, like China and India, well, they probably will be. But if one doesn't value other things, how can one excel in a world that demands a range of skills?

Nonsense. There are tons of Dr. Seuss books on Amazon. We don't need any more baseless conspiracy theories. We have plenty already in this forum.

And we can definitely do without the projection.

    Read my sig!!!

Then the smart ones come here for freedom.
Perhaps they eliminated them because the district doesn't attract the proper talent that can get kids interested, perhaps they couldn't afford the proper talent.

The smart ones go to where the cutting edge research is being done.

We were probably number one in math in the fifties and sixties.

The US is forth in tech proficiency, after Japan, Korea and China.

The best talent goes to where the cutting edge research is being done. In quantum computing, for instance, that means China.

Quite so. Which is why I object to schools cutting advanced classes, replacing proficiency exams with lotteries for the most excellent high schools and requiring political loyalty statements from college professors.

We are not developing our best talent.

China places a high importance in math.
We place a high importance in teaching kids about gender fluidity.
    Any questions?

****. Maybe it's for the best that China kicks our ass.

that is because they treat education like their lives depend on it while we treat education as an afterthought and convince ourselves that we are the best.

You have no such allusions in China with its 5000 year history among its people.

    Based on what data?

Then clearly the answer is we should spend more money on cutting edge research to ensure have the best programs and support so we draw the best talent. We should do this for quantum computing, genetics, fusion, all of it. But at the end of the day, this can be done regardless of what are math scores show.

One thing to consider is that unlike Japan, Korea, and China, we are a plural society that values a broader variety of life choices. Those countries are narrower in what they value, right or wrong is not my concern, just pointing out they tend to be more homogenous societies than hours. That is a great explanation why we show other interests outside of focusing just on mathematics where perhaps they value it more at the expense of other things. Mathematics isn't the be all end all, it's one tool in the toolbox.

Your joking. You can't draw the best talent if the talent isn't there.

If you are content on ceding technological dominance in favor of what, lesbian performative dance? so be it.
