CHP Officer Pulls Over Funeral Procession on the 10 Freeway for Traveling Too Slow http://ktla.com/2015/05/15/chp-offi...ion-on-the-10-freeway-for-traveling-too-slow/

A uniformed traffic escort was leading a motorcade of about 100 cars to Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills to bury family matriarch Sandra Louise Behn-Capel when they were stopped for traveling too slow on the freeway, according to Behn-Capel’s daughter Rachel Behn-Humphrey.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in humor & Satire since there doesn't seem to be a WTF forum.

I have to admit it sucks when you are stuck by a funeral procession, but at least in my area the police themselves provide the lead escort all the way to the cemetery. There is no real rule to the road other than the funeral gets through as far as I am concerned. Once the cop car come through the intersection any car in the procession with its lights on can disregard stop signs and red lights and such. I don't know what the law is but I have always been told that it is against the law to cut in front of or otherwise disrupt a funeral procession.

How does it work where you people live when it comes to these things? I ask because I just find this unbelievable it is so outside of custom everywhere I have ever been for a funeral.

Meh. First of all, I am not sure about this section, but I believe the 10 is typically on the lists of most congested highways in the country. Running a funeral procession down that highway at extremely low speeds is not optimal. Second, the only one pulled over was the 'escort' after he tried to stop traffic (the guy does not have the authority to stop traffic. He11, he did not even have authority to be on the bike since he did not have a current license). The rest of the procession, including the hearst, could have continued, but they decided to stop and get into an altercation with the officer, further hindering traffic. He should have pepper-sprayed the bich.

The guy on the motorcycle may have been in some uniform he create but he has NO authority to stop traffic on an interstate highway and even official police/sheriff escorts do not stop traffic on interstates. That is HIGHLY dangerous. And there is a minimum speed that must be maintained on interstates. Where do these people get the idea they have a right to disrupt the traffic on an interstate and put other people in danger? And I could care less her family thinks she is a "matriarch" of the family, she is nothing to anyone else but another citizen. Sorry for her death but they were in the wrong here.
