Climate change: IPCC report is 'code red for humanity'

    AOC's 12 years are now...uh...none

Quick, we have to reinstate Trump as President, he'll turn it all back into a Chinese Hoax

Seriously, in only 4 years he and his have ****ed us up pretty badly, haven't they?

"Say, let's elect a racist clown as President. What the worst that could happen?"

    Thanks Republicans

I'm not defending the ecological policy of Trump, that would be ridiculous. But can you tell me what Biden or even Obama did on that matter ? And don't quote me the Paris agreement, that's non sense, not only it was something agreed on the end of his two terms, but it's just a blurry promise : "we will stop polluting, we swear", without any real mean, budget created.

Obama spent most of his term trying to get a workable healthcare plan through. Did you expect him to fail at two major progressive goals?

Biden hasn't been there long enough to do much but his infrastructure bills have a lot of environmental things in them. It may be too little too late if that's all we're going to do but I don't think it will be. (Conservative wishes notwithstanding.)

Obamacare was passed 14 months into his presidency. What did he do with the remaining 82 months of it?

From an external perspective Obama seemed to lose his passion, his fight. I wish he had been more...controversial. Even obnoxious.

I am not sure he ever had it in him. The beer summit was a big red flag he wasn't going to have an ounce or progressiveness in him as president at least. Not surprising considering all his "Present" votes prior to being elected president. Even Obamacare was an issue he showed very little leadership on in the crafting of the bill. He just signed off on whatever they decided to pass.

It took a while for the world to realise this. And thanks for the extra details on Obamacare, wasn't aware.

Remember when he got the Nobel Peace prize? Lol.

That wasn't what I was saying, but perhaps it's connected to my comment. He kind of floated above aloof instead of getting his hands dirty.

Went around apologizing to the rest of the world for all American policies that gave us and them the lives we have had since the end of WW2.

Obama also made treaties like the TAFTA. One of the best way to reduce carbon emissions is to reduce the travel of merchandise, basically stopping to import things from all around the world, especially if you can make them grow/produce at home.
The problem of a lot of ecological wishes of politicians is that they want the cake and eat it, a globalized trade system and a less polluting system. As far as I know, Biden won't do anything to create short path consumption.

To give you the entirety of my thinking, I'm quite pessimistic on the issue as, as far as I know, there can't be ecology without a reduction of income, GDP, and even limitation of birth rate (not really the issue in developped countries). Basically, degrowth. I'm fully aware that nobody won't reduce their lifestyle, some people because they can't as they're already struggling, and a lot of people they don't want, and sometimes because of a mixing of both.
I doubt then that the path we're taking is something else than economic collapse, I'm not delusionnal at the point to think there is really a way to discuss of those issues right now, especially on this forum (no lack of respect it, I just think a lot of people would be receptive to that kind of ideas).

Everything is fine, just huge fire in california, greece, turkey, and during this winter (up north so summer up south), huge fire in Australia. Disappearance of a lot of glaciers, and an observed rise of average temperature.

Surprised temperatures have risen since the end of the Little Ice Age?

Surprisingly IPCC6 finally says that computer model RCP8.5 is unlikely yet over 40% of their scenarios rely on it while the most likely Model gets 18% mention.

The public believes what the IPCC says is fact when it is % of confidence levels based on computer models. It gives low confidence for increased drought for North America.

RCP 8.5 is unlikely because it don't take in account the limitless of oil reserves, aswell coal. As fas as I understand it, they consider it as "unlikely" because they suppose we will ran out of oil and coal before that. It doesn't change that even with lower RCP, the consequences would be drastic.

Simply untrue. Observed science never tracked RCP8.5 and anything ‘drastic’ is a guess.

look on the bright side, Covid kills people so less humans means less pollution. Given that, why do those who think man can change natural cycles of the planet push for the vaccine?
