Do you think that they have not had background checks or would the studio hire people that just walked in off the street after purchasing their personal arsenals at gun shows?
So we should ban pressure cookers also? Cause I would bet anything at some point another bomb will go off somewhere in the US made from a pressure cooker.
First off......... Colbert is an actor.......a late night entertainer...... and an arse-hole! He needs to stick with what he knows best......telling jokes and interviewing his "guests"! Second........ When you liberals announce a way to get the criminal element to turn ALL their guns in, I will then turn in my gun(s) <at least the one that I did NOT lose in the great flood, in case the feds are listening.....huh, NSA>. NO PLAN to GET the criminal's guns......go diddle with yourself!
Actually it would be needed. The co-author of the 2 Amendment would agree. "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason Co-author of the Second Amendment during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788 What about Jefferson? "What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms." - Jefferson "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." - George Washington "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them." -Richard Henry Lee "The best we can help for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed" - Alexander Hamilton "Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" - Patrick Henry I agree with ole Ben Franklin on this one. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Ben Franklin It's not like the left would LIE to us right? "Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort the facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." Sara Brady Chairman, Handgun Control Inc, to Senator Howard Metzenbaum The National Educator, January 1994, Page 3.
Probably. Are gun control advocates saying that police and security guards shouldn't be armed with guns? - - - Updated - - - Stay classy, conservative.
Gun control advocates are dishonest and have been caught on more than one occasion, please see the above post on why your opinion doesn't matter on the subject. Your opinion < Founding Fathers opinions
Then by all means go door to door in the ghetto and enforce the law. Grab up the crack rocks, the stolen TVs, and the illegal firearms. Stop treating criminals like innocents and innocents like criminals. But you wont because it is you that has no idea whats happening. The tyrant thugs you support want nothing but to keep you angry at the people who oppose them. If it wasn't guns it would be fish sticks. It would literally be anything they can use to make your inner SJW trigger into full blown rage mode so that you keep them in power.
We have sensible laws, tell Obama and your liberal hoard to enforce them This nation has drastically changed for the worst, and I'm surprised you remembering that song that the times were starting to change back then with progressive influence
I'm not really following your comparison here. Can you put it a different way? And what are the nation laws you're referring to?
Convicted felons cannot legally buy or own a gun. Where do you get this stuff? When you buy across state lines, legally the gun has to go through an FFL in YOUR own state. There is no loophole, you need to understand what you are talking about.
You said legally. A private sale across lines with no FFL involved is illegal. A private sale to a known felon is illegal.
We already have sensible gun laws. What is being pushed now are laws that place a needless burden on gun owners for political reasons. The law recently passed here, written by Bloomberg and passed by the people he paid to have elected, requires people, whether they own a firearm or not, to go pass a background check before having a weapon transfered to them. This means that if you want to borrow your friends rifle, you must both goto a gun shop so a background check can be conducted on you. If your friend wants you to watch his rifle while he's out of town for a few days, background check. It's a needless, unreasonable burden brought to you by the people who think "reasonable gun laws" mean more restrictions and rules that affect the 99.9% of gun owners who annually harm no one rather than the people who actually cause problems. It's not about reason, or saving lives, or any of that other good feelings stuff the left spouts, it's about partisanship and sticking it to the other side.
Funny how the anti-gun crowd always says "nobody wants to take your guns", yet right after the Oregon tragedy, Obama praised gun control in Australia where the government confiscated peoples' guns.
This is an excellent post! "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" can be sung today about those who have lost their lives due to gun violence that is happening in America. Death by gun violence will continue but it can be alleviated to a degree with strict gun control laws.
' Who is "Colbert" and why does what this person thinks matter...? As far as how many people will die is concerned, the answer is that so long as we keep on coddling criminals and crazy people in our society, it is inevitable that they will go on killing other people. Does that mean that the whole damn population needs to be left defenseless? That's every bit as crazy as allowing the criminals to go roaming around without any restraint on them at all. Hint: the CRIMINALS are the problem, not law-abiding citizens....
I wonder if there is an African counterpart to Colbert who sits in front of cameras and says things like, "Stop the machete violence!" There are civil wars going on in Africa that are being fought with nothing but machetes. It would be interesting to compare how many people in the world are killed with machetes, and how many are killed by LEGAL guns. I would bet the machetes win.
Are you saying that only those rich enough to buy security guards deserve protection? My wife can't wait 20 minutes for a cop to arrive and neither can I. Why do security guards need guns? They are no more qualified to carry a gun than me. I have been trained to use a gun, served in our military, and passed dozens of background checks to work in top secret government facilities from the DEA to the Post Office. Several people in my family have top secret clearance, but you think only cops and security guards should have guns?
if we did that... we would have to acknowledge the majority of those shootings are gang related, and that illegals makeup half the gang population in america... which would mean we would have to address the illegal immigration issue under a negative tone... which means we would be less apt to simply allow them to stay, which would dramatically shift the whole plan democrats have laid out in the media... so instead, we just blame the gun, instead of the people behind the gun... thats, half our problem... it kinda follows the same line along low wages and employment... 30 million illegals, how are they not doing jobs that other americans would if the illegal workforce wasn't depressing wages and keeping pay down unfairly... if we really tackled that whole problem and looked at the issue in an entirety, we would have a negative view on the illegals, and folks would be less inclined to feel sorry for them and less likely to keep them around after... I could go on about taxes and costs as well, I mean you don't have millions of illegals in school systems to the tune of $12k a head on average, and not have it be a huge tax drain on our citizens who could use that money in some fashion other than funding the better lifestyle of illegals... but lets be honest... if people wanted the facts, they wouldn't reject them constantly as opinion and turn you into being the heartless (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) who wants to harm people... when in all honesty, you just think you should help your own people first, so they're able to help others in the long run... but in their own countries...
