Colorado Joins 11 States Agreeing to Shift to Popular Vote System.

So states want to vote in the electoral college based on voters in other states, ignoring their own citizens' votes. Sounds like they have been learning from the corrupt federal government.

    B U N K !!!!

He said "we don't want a few regions to hold power over the other regions".

Election or choice of a president is not a regional issue.

States still have control over state issues. That is why the minimum wage not only differs state-to-state, but also within states.

The argument is bullshit designed to protect republican votes and gerrymandered outcomes.

Always worthwhile to actually read the articles. This is from the Breitbart article:

It technically does not eliminate the Electoral College, it just awards the electoral votes from the states that sign onto the compact to the winner of the national popular vote. The compact only kicks in if enough states amounting to 270 electoral votes–a White House win–sign onto the plan.

    Note the last sentence.

Umm . . states don't vote in the electoral college. They vote in elections. They vote in voting booths. They vote by mail.

I gotta say, you are not known for clarity.

I disagree. The purpose it was created for exists on a even much larger scale today. It was to prevent large isolated areas of population....especially in individual States....from dictating laws for the nation. While we are one Country, each State is still sovereign.

Would you want to live in a Country where 51% of the population decided that the other 49% would be the only ones required to pay taxes and the 51% would be exempt? Elimination of the Electoral College is not the rabbit hole that you will want to go down.

Oh no, he said regions! Not that!

Come back when you have an actual argument to make, until then you're just dismissing it on grounds that you don't like it.

You raise an absurd argument. Would you want to live in a country where the electoral college decided to elect Putin as president?

    See?

Think about that folks. Such an absurd argument is proposed as being a valid concern by those who also thought was was valid to defend a jerk like trump!

Nor are you. The states send electors to the electoral college to cast their votes. They hold elections, they don't vote in them. It would be impossible to fit a state in a voting booth. I don't think the electoral college votes is conducted by mail.

He's the one who raised the "regional" issue, not me. And you're the one who got behind it. So if it's not "an actual argument" you should look to yourself and your choices.

Thus disenfranchising the voters in Florida.

Or, to put it another way, the will of the people in Florida would be usurped by the will of the people in other states.

This is one of the worst ideas ever...:boo:

Well, discounting the fact that a non-American could not be voted in a President....but say that was not longer true....It would be much easier to elect Putin (or some other non-American) as President with a popular vote than it would be with an Electoral College.

You also presume too much. I dislike Trump. Did not vote for him and believe him to be a poor President on many levels. However, his election to the Presidency has exposed many ugly things/people that have always existed, but stayed in the shadows until recently.

However, the EC has nothing to do with Trump.....except to the butthurt people that refuse to accept the elections with the system we have in place.

Try explaining how it alters the national outcome.

Now, if you don't like it, you have a choice. You could advocate the elimination of the electoral college and then this couldn't happen.

Trump has not been good for America, and the electoral college is responsible.

Sure sure. That's all it is and has absolutely no facts in the video whatsoever. Whatever makes you feel better.

That would require a Constitutional amendment and out of thousands of tries, that has gone nowhere.

Lol.....that is like saying that the tree you ran your car into was responsible for the accident.

There are many reasons for how Trump got elected, but the EC is not really one of them.

Trump had won the Popular vote in 30 States. This means that a majority of States wanted Trump for President and 20 States did not.

If that's what you want to go with than you do you. We'll all just pretend that everything is an alt-right conspiracy just to help the illusion feel complete for you.

I’m all for states being allowed to determine the manner of their elections, as art 2 states, but I do think the CO general assembly is essentially robbing the people of CO of their voice here

I choose to support the continuation/preservation of the system that is outlined in our Constitution and has always been used to elect our presidents.

Now, if you and the rest of the people who want to usurp the will of the voters in any given state don't like it, you have a choice: you can swim to Cuba and take your authoritarian ideas and impulses with you.

    Your analogy isn't.

The majority of voters voted against trump.

Well then certainly you should oppose it since Trump supports it.
