Anyone compose Music on their computer? I've been looking into software, there's a popular software called "Garageband" which looks pretty good, but it's Mac only. Anyone know of any good Windows alternative? One I'm looking at is Reaper since it offers a 60 day free trial period, but it's not extremely user friendly.

    You want Finale.

You can actually place notes on paper and change the instruments that play them.

It is a very good music notation software.

Reaper is decent. You can download the manual... it is lengthy. But cheaper than ProTools.

I would suggest getting a good dynamic microphone and a condenser. If you don't play drums or know anyone who does, you can get EZDrummer or some other MIDI drum set to play guitar along to....
