It is a Schummer shut down, obviously. The democrats are to blame so clearly. There is not even a daca bill to vote on now. Plus they have until march to extend daca and the extension expires Feb 8. Clearly it is just obstruction on the dems part. I dislike chucky more

I dislike chucky s more than even Pelosi whom I can't stand. Her, him, and the rest of the far left progressives and socialists like warren make me sick. Trump has helped my family and adult children.

    Trump:

    FAR greater debt

    LESS medical insurance coverage

    MORE social division

MORE international distrust for the USA

and now he shuts down the government

    Trump = total waste

As I said, there are principled conservatives who care about people. They aren't like some of the types around here who take great delight in the shutdown. They want to expand opportunities (not handouts) for people. They aren't suckers for the phoney wall solution to illegal immigration because they know half of illegals overstayed a visa. They know the top 1% will get their tax cut from the business rate reductions and don't need a personal rate reduction that could to the bottom 99%.

    I could go on but I won't.

Another LW rag the RW complains about.
Hmm, I wonder, are they really so biased?
But the problem is, the wall, which is $12B being asked for, when, it is supposed to be paid for by Mexico. Did the RW lie?

Somehow, cons don't realize, it isn't shut down, unless maintained and staffed. And if not, will be nothing more than a hole.
And for what? People our corps and some industries want for labor. More waste.

This is one of the more absurd explanations for the 2008 recession I've ever heard.

The official recession started six months earler and the problems leading to the recession started long before Democrats took control on Congress in January 2007.

BTW, I'm not a fan of Obamanomics.

We have a long-term declining growth problem no President or Congress has addressed, including Trump.

When enough Dems are ready, the government can reopen.

They get healthcare, and Dems just refused to vote for a clean CR that included additional CHIPS funding. You'll come to your senses in time, and then the government will reopen and CHIPS funding will be increased.
It's Democrats that largely didn't support the clean CR with the additional CHIPS funding, the GOP largely supported it. You'll come around eventually.

No worries. Trump got what he wanted.

In fact, Trump was fully in favor of the shutdown as he voiced his support for the Republican-led House of Representatives efforts to defund the Affordable Care Act that set up a showdown with President Obama and the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Would you have preferred we had a depression instead of a sharp recession?

We had a demand deficit caused by a credit crisis so bad government had to guarantee banks lending to each other. Consumers couldn't get credit and were forced to stop spending, business also had trouble getting loans, and besides, had little reason to expand in the face of declining consumer demand.

Government stepped in with loans to business, tax cuts for individuals, more government spending--all adding to the deficit--and cheap money. You're blaming Obama for saving the economy.

We offered a clean CR and even included additional CHIPS funding. You guys shut it down anyway. We can't stop you from shutting down the government, so, we will just have to wait for you to come to your senses and make the best of it.

Dems have been on a 15-month rage fest since the 2016 election. You couldn't prevent his election, then you couldn't prevent his inauguration, then you couldn't drive him from office. But, as you have now demonstrated, you can shut down the federal government. Ok. So you shut it down. Now you are like dog that caught the car you were chasing. What's your plan now?

Personally, I think Trump can run the Federal Government on the $10M a day that comes in. Now, if this drags on long enough, he may have to close some departments and lay off some folks, but, I suspect we will manage.

We'll see how long it takes for Dems to come to their senses.

Except you did not need a CR if you pass a budget bill through reconciliation. you only need 51 votes for that. Where were they? Being as you could not even muster your own majority, you somehow have decided Dems are obliged to fix that problem . Well your 'aide' package only consisted of five Dem votes for the four republicans you could not persuade. . That is all the charity we feel for you. You have the power so its your job to lead and govern, so do it.

That will require you write a better bill that can actually pass.

They are doing this vote on reconciliation. If Dems want the government reopened, enough of them are going to have to step up and vote for the clean CR with the additional CHIP funding.

They have been on a fifteen month rage fest since the election and why they couldn't prevent Trump's election and they couldn't stop his inauguration and they could drive him from office, they can shut down the government and they can keep it shut down for as long as they like. It will reopen when enough Dems are ready to reopen it.

CNN: “Why Democrats may be making the wrong bet on the shutdown.”

    * Americans say avoiding a shutdown is important than continuing DACA.

    * A majority says finding a DACA fix is more important than opposing the wall. Trump and the GOP clearly are willing to do a DACA fix. Democrats are seen as unwilling to do a proper wall.

The CNN poll also found that the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is seen as a higher priority that DACA. One would hope so. CHIP is for lower income American children, some 9 million of them. DACA is for illegal immigrants, fewer than 1 million of them.

But Democrats are giving DACA the higher priority. They have blocked legislation that would extend CHIP because it doesn’t revive DACA.

So...we wait for Dems to wake up and smell the coffee.

They will require the 60 votes for a motion to pass the CR, because they are waiting to pass the budget through reconciliation. You need to hope the republicans can smell the coffee first because their sinuses appear to be blocked. Tell your party to get their **** together and write a good bill that either Dems will like or the rest of those republicans. Its their job.

No, most of the time they don't get health care, they get emergency care. Republicans should have gone ahead and funded CHIP.
    I'm not a Democrat.
Maybe they will. But maybe they'll make your pal Trump look bad.

"A national ABC News/Washington Post poll released before Friday night's outcome found 48% of those surveyed said they would blame Trump and the GOP while 28% would blame Democrats. Another survey by Quinnipiac University national poll found 32% would blame Republicans, 21% Trump and 34% Democrats."

Nothing dishonest other than your refusing to respond

You need to respond to questions asked

How was Bush supposed to veto the Democrats 2009 budget which you criticize him for not doing?

You’ve been shown where the “OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE NUMBERS” were skewed. THATS the problem. Your reading comprehension is atrocious.

They didn’t have a $161B deficit, it was MUCH higher than that because of the accounting used. And that doesn’t include the supplemental spending bills used to fund the war. Obamas defeicits were not greater because of his spending, they were greater because he actually accounted for what Bush had already spent (ala: Paying off the Bush credit card”)
