So you identify with the puppy killer, what are people supposed to think?

. . . dude, I can't throw a rock around this town without hitting a dog trainer who can help you with that, man. Worked for my dog like a charm. Yes, there is a metric **** load of training out there for addressing high prey drive. She could have also, you know, acted like a responsible owner and not let her dog on someone else's property.

Just an update: if anyone is curious about training for prey drive, I can give more details and have had much success.

The short version is that 1) If you are training a dog to be a hunting dog, then no, I don't think you can train against prey drive . . . that's specifically what you are training the dog FOR 2) You always have the option, as a responsible owner, to separate your dog from potential prey. If you kill your pet because you failed to do so, that's your fault, not the dog's 3) The actual answer: exposure. Walk your dog, on a leash, with a muzzle if necessary close to pray animals. I walk mine past some fence where there are some goats or through a neighborhood with rabbits. If the dog lunges, give a firm "no" and immediately walk the other direction with them. Then walk back. This time with a bit more distance. Repeat until the dog is no longer reactive. Praise with a high value treat when the dog chooses to direct their attention to you instead of the prey. Repeat, this time getting closer. Move back when necessary, as described before. Move closer when you can, as described before. It took about a month to train my dogs to no longer have a prey reaction toward chickens. It took far less than that to get the problem child to stop reacting negatively toward smaller dogs. I can provide YouTube videos with similar tips. There are hundreds out there.
