Consumer confidence surged to a five-year high in May, fueled by increased optimism about an improving job market.

The Consumer Confidence Index, which gauges how consumers feel about the economy each month, rose to 76.2 in May -- its highest reading since February 2008, according to research firm The Conference Board. It's up significantly from last month's reading of 69, and is also higher than the 72.5 predicted by economists surveyed by Briefing.com (CNN)

Americans' confidence in the economy jumped in May to a five-year high, lifted by a better outlook for hiring and business conditions.
The Conference Board, a New York-based private research group, says its consumer confidence index rose in May to 76.2, the second straight increase. That's up from a reading of 69.0 in April and the highest since February 2008.

    * Home prices accelerate by most in 7 years:

(Reuters) - Home prices accelerated by the most in nearly seven years in March while consumer confidence surged in May, suggesting there were areas of resilience for an economy that is facing the pinch of belt-tightening in Washington. The S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas climbed 10.9 percent year over year, beating expectations for 10.2 percent, the survey released on Tuesday showed. This was the biggest increase since April 2006, just before prices peaked in the summer of that year.

Well I saw this on the UK news this morning, making it "news", good/great news for the US and her trading partners around the world. Making it a point for debate on this board.

Is a throwaway, partisan comment of no value whatsoever. It's an intellectually disabled statement of no value, other than to get the usual suspects, who are generally intellectually disabled themselves.

Any sane and reasonable person whould think "hey, that's great news for my country", but no, the partisans cannot bring themselves to do so.

Wrong. LeonCoDem doesn't care about that. This is an opportunity to make Obama and the Democrat Party look good. Hence, the thread. "Partisanship at its best!"
