    IMHO, direct democracy is deferring to the LCD. Result: Trump. Our entire system of government was set up to prevent us from doing exactly what we as a nation have done.

    Any system of govt that has voting either directly or for representatives has the element of democracy in its structure.

    Not exactly.
    The democracy is mostly practiced on the state level. The federal government is the function of the union of states. On the federal level you need majority of states, not majority of population of those states combined, to govern.

    You realize just saying that something is so does not make it so right?

    Just because voting takes place does not automatically make a system of governance a democracy in the United States of America we have a constitutional federal republic I suggest you look it up and educate yourself so you don't appear to be so ignorant in future post on this topic
