yep, in the old days they made things to last, today we get cheap stuff that they stop selling if it lasts too long as they see it as bad for business

I cannot IMAGINE how Donald would think, except that it would be venal. As to how they deal with the help, I don't give a **** how they deal with employees. I have better things to think about.

i think the poster meant the most deaths per day - we may pass them on total deaths in the future too, if things do not slow here

We can absolutely bring back all of our manufacturing. As long as we're prepared to lower our standards of living several notches. I'm dead set against it.

if we had those jobs back, standard of living would go up, money would stay in the usa vs going to places like China and India

we should buy natural resources from other countries and build what we can here

The reason those items are made abroad is because it cheaper. Ergo, making them here is more expensive. Who pays the extra expense? We do, the consumers. That means less money for internet, satellite tv, going out to dinner and movies (when that type of thing is allowed again), etc, etc. Our standards of living, on balance, MUST go down. Sorry dude, I wish it wasn't true.

Bring it on. I'd rather not worry about diseases coming in. Most Americans are borrowing their lifestyle anyway.

Mexicans are trapped between cartels and corrupt government. Why tighten the noose? Why spend money to keep American's out? We know we're not welcome there unless we're spending cash in their resorts.

No thanks, I've grown fond of my comforts. I enjoy the freedom.
And you propose to solve Americans borrowing problem by making things more expensive? Brilliant!

The cost of products made here would go up because of labor rates. Our dollars wouldn't go as far, but we wouldn't depend on other countries in times of need for products we designed.

When you depend on foreign materials, you have to pay their price unless you can hold the products you make over their head or find some kind of leverage. Just look at China holding us by the balls because they make our medicines for us that we designed and outsourced to them for cheaper labor and product costs.

So Trumpers want to use this horror to push their agenda?

    What a surprise.

What better use of resources and money right? Stop something from coming here that's ALREADY HERE

~ This would be fine as long as quality improved. The higher cost would be offset by a product that lasts longer.

Just what do you expect to give up? I never suggested fixing borrowing problems. That's on them. I can do without a lot of high tech junk if they want to overcharge because of labor costs. Maybe more simple products would be more reliable.

Just because you have no use for an item, or don't understand how to use it does not make it junk. Don't you understand that we would be killing local business if we didn't import? What you want is insane and you'll never convince the majority of Americans that it's in their best interest - because it is not.
