The SCOTUS decided to hear the Trump lawyer's appeal for immunity, thus delaying the January 6th trial. This was the worst decision in the history of the United States Supreme Court. The DC circuit court laid this out very clearly, knowing that there would be an appeal. In the DC court, Trump's lawyers claimed that Trump could have his political rival assassinated, but could not be prosecuted, and could only be impeached. https://abovethelaw.com/2024/02/dc-...ssinate-trumps-ridiculous-immunity-arguments/ Judge Florence Pan, who forced him to concede that his argument meant that a sitting president could dispatch SEAL Team 6 to murder his political opponent — a political act that is also a crime — and evade prosecution if Congress failed to impeach and convict him. So, per the title of this thread, let's take this logical argument to another level. Could Trump murder Nancy Pelosi on national television, and be immune from prosecution? Evidently these scenarios aren't too ridiculous for this Supreme Court.
No poll btw. This is how MAGA type look at things for sure. Trump was right that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th ave and not loose a single supporter. In fact, if it WERE Pelosi, they would probably love him and cheer him on even more. But in all seriousness. Yes, this is how Trump see's presidential power, and his supporters agree.
Not broad impunity, but MAGA would certainly give him a free pass. It is literally impossible for MAGA to hold Trump accountable for anything, ever, and this would hardly be the first place they'd start.
If that’s your answer, maybe you can explain why the Supreme Court decided not to dismiss the Trump legal team appeal to immunity.
Yes. Loyalists will condone anything, and Trump knows it, hence his comment about shooting someone on 5th ave and his loyalists supporting him anyway.
It's crazy! One of his loyalists hit Paul Pelosi over the head with a hammer. Trump continues with the hate rhetoric. Hopefully, after November he'll ride off into the sunset.
