Is that the Conservative or Liberal view?

I just like earthquake maps and geologists in general...

Lots of geologists in the oil business.

I found it to be an unbiased view. Yes... oil is a big monster... AGW is another. The difference is, oil produces something.

It wouldn't matter, the earthquake wasn't caused by tectonics, it was the Founding Father's all rolling over in their graves.

Also I'd like to point out your location is quite ridiculous. This isn't Obama's land. You treat Obama as if he were a king, an absolute ruler, which is quite against this country's values. This is the land of the free people, not one man.

    5.8? Pfft!

Funny how everyone calls California the cereal state: full of fruits nuts and flakes.

But we don't evacuate buildings and stop play in MLB games over a measly 5.8 quake. Hell, that’s not even worth getting out of bed for!

We had a quake not far from here about twenty years ago that caused several chickens to crow in the middle of the night. One farmer was interviewed who got up to the crowing and couldn't understand why his old cow didn't want to be milked. Because she was so reliable he figured that something queer was going on and checked his Pa's old pocket watch and went back to bed.

There may have been other such disruptions to other people's lives that we will never hear about.

A 7.0 centered on Manhattan would see 300 miles of devastation in all directions. Manhattan would be turned into two islands, with the center of the island going away. Look at Manhattan from the east. You'll notice the skyline looks like a saddle with the north and south much taller than the center. The reason is that those are built on bedrock, while the center is built on a sand base. When a big earthquake hits NYC, the devastation from liquefaction will be much more devastating than the 1989 Loma Prieta quake here in the SF Bay Area which measured out at 7.1. It will even be worse than the recent Japanese earthquake. Keep in mind, most of the devastation in Japan occurred from the tsunami.

We had a little 3.6 temblor this morning. It forced me to roll over in bed.

I love these people who say they can't live in California because it has earthquakes. Yeah buddy, we get a major earthquake, what, maybe every 30 years?

How's it in Kansas, Texas and Arkansas? Tornado much? How you doing in the gulf states? Hurricane much?

    ROFLMAO

    Speaking of Hurricanes:

    Hurricane Irene approaches Bahamas

Cali has NEVER in recorded history been hit by a hurricane.
