This thread will host a listing of deaths caused by the Capitalism. I'll provide the definition of capitalism so there is no confusion on whether a death is caused directly, indirectly, or not at all by it (for challengers). I believe the number of deaths caused by capitalism easily dwarfs those caused by other modern systems. This thread may serve as the counterpoint to the claims about the deaths supposedly caused by other modern systems. Feel free to challenge any listing. An outright dismissal will not count as a challenge though. What will count as deaths caused by capitalism will include deaths caused by a negligence in the system itself (failure to allocate basic resources), deaths caused by production under it, deaths caused by defending it, deaths caused to expand it or in the name of it, deaths caused by securing resources for it. Any death directly or indirectly related to capitalism is welcomed. This should be fair due to all the blame alternative economic systems get for their implementation methods. Capitalism - an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.
This war was fought to stop the spread of communism throughout the world. The US felt that if one country fell under communism, so would the others (domino theory). Source for death toll: http://thevietnamwar.info/how-many-people-died-in-the-vietnam-war/
African slaves were property and the profits from their labor were often reinvested into other things. Banks helped finance the slave trade and insurance companies provided coverage for it. Wall Street itself was a place to buy, sell, and trade slaves. Source for death toll: http://necrometrics.com/pre1700b.htm
I love how you think the US military is "capitalism". The level of discussion on this forum is so pathetic. Enjoy your circle-jerk.

This is a pretty conservative estimate. India adopted capitalism in the late 1980's, but this calculation will just be for 26 years. Even though India has implemented successful schemes to address hunger, 3,000 children a day still die from it. This estimate does not include older people who die from hunger. 3000 children per day x 365 days per year = 1,095,000 children 28,470,000 children in India died from hunger to date. and does the liberal have a feeling deep in his heart the deaths were somehow caused by capitalism? See why we have to be positive that liberalism is based in pure ignorance? Is any other conclusion logically possible?
"and does the liberal have a feeling deep in his heart the deaths were somehow caused by capitalism?" Some of it definitely. Others are listings to mirror the pro-capitalist arguments that blame deaths that occur under certain governments squarely on their economic systems. Why not blame poverty and famine deaths in capitalist economies on capitalism though? Or blame deaths on capitalism when the government goes to war to expand capitalist markets and capitalist trade routes or goes to war in the name of capitalism? Seems fair.
How and which capitalistic policies are responsible for all these deaths ?? - - - Updated - - - What was the rate before the implementation of capitalism ??
Don't forget King Leopold's Capitalist greed genocide over rubber in the Belgian Congo where likely 10 million Africans were killed.
genocide is when a liberal govt or king kills a race, while capitalism is when individuals freely trade with other free individuals. Sorry to rock your world but 1+1=2.
So, Belgium wasn't Capitalist when it went nuts killing Congo Africans for rubber so they could trade rubber across the World, for Belgian greed?
dear, a King is not a capitalist. Its actually hard to imagine you cant grasp this simple point. Sorry.
So, it's not possible to have a monarchy with Capitalism? Of course it is. Capitalism is an economic system, while Monarchy is how a country's political system is run.
Here's what you said about King (Monarchy) controlling economic system: "Don't forget King Leopold's Capitalist greed genocide over rubber" do you understand now? Feeling like a liberal yet???
dear, countries were in wars 10,000 years before capitalism was invented so do you say each war in history was caused by the economic system of the participants?? Isn't thinking fun?
