Hey guys, so I have been following this forum for quite a while and really respect a lot of the users on here. I'm keen to get your views/opinions on a comment a friend of mine made today regarding the situation in Iraq. To summarise what he said: "There is only so much hand holding we can do do for the Iraqis. Ok the war was a mistake, but it's happened now and the Iraqi government, the people and the military need to stand up for themselves. It's been over 10 years since the invasion! We can't stay there forever! We try to work with them and train them up military up and they kill us. They wanted us out and now we are gone, it's too late to ask for our help!' I would really value your take on the above statement. What are some good, logical counter arguments to this? Does the argument that the Iraqis need to defend for themselves hold any weight in your opinion. Can we break something and not fix it properly? Thanks,
