Four U.S. troops, part of a contingent dispatched by Obama to protect the citizenry there, have already been wounded in South Sudan. They were reportedly "caught in the crossfire." Mm hmm. Sure.

Africa revisited. Circa 1993, Democratic President Bill Clinton deployed troops to Somalia to protect its citizenry from warlords. The citizenry turned on American troops and joined the warlords to oust white devils from their mutual homeland. The citizenry and warlords massacred and mutilitated U.S. soldiers in a gory incident known as "Blackhawk Down."

These troops were evacuating U.S citizens from the area when their plane was attacked in the air.

Only Deja vu to the uninformed.

I don't fully understand what's going on over there.

I don't remember who said this, nor do I have a source, But, I was under the impression that someone said that the Sudan split was going to result in unrest and possible civil war. Partly, because the oil fields were all in only in one half of the old unified Sudan block, and the split would cut on part off from the oil revenues. The other half would stimulate violence. Also I heard one side had a despot wannabe.

What a lovely situation we find Sudan in now. Way to showcase all the worst qualities of human nature.

Operation Restore Hope and the resultant Gothic Serpent were studies in how not to undertake a peacekeeping mission. Both missions had a lot less men and materiel than what was needed. When we went after Aidid, the mission design was flawed from the start.

As for the South Sudan issue, our troops are there protecting our own citizens by the way. An evac mission had to be called off because of very strong anti-air fire, so now we're sending in a stronger force of Marines to get the American civilians out.

I hope that the United States gets our people out and then leave the country until the United Nations decides to step in.
