Speaking at the second Extraordinary Congress of BDP Van Provincial Organization, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş remarked that they would continue to produce solutions and do politics. “We will be determined to struggle until freedom” said BDP Co-Chair and stated that the BDP would keep its works going insisting on peace despite all obstacles and difficulties. Demirtaş said that “Politics is done hypocritically in Turkey, which is why it is more difficult for us to do true politics rejecting this hypocritical politics. Some people could be irritated by our politics but there are mindset problems about understanding the peace politics of the BDP. Those who approved the war memorandum in the Parliament two weeks ago must now come and answer to the people. We put up tents and walked for peace - said the BDP co-chair - but the AKP did nothing but prevent our demonstrations with violence and arrests. Now, is that us or the AKP that needs to answer for this situation? - asked Demirtaş - The responsibility of all these deaths belongs to the AKP and the Prime Minister. Despite the electoral threshold, we entered the Parliament to end the war and bring peace, we told about our projects and we staged human-shield actions to end the war. The AKP tried to suppress us by means of cruelty and torture however these tortures strengthen the fire of rebellion more and more".

Referring to "the AKP media that shows the BDP as a target because it exposes the hypocrisy of the 'Prime Minister who accuses us of ‘doing politics over blood’", Demirtaş said that "this is the perfect example of immorality and hypocrisy because it is you who bury the truth of burned down villages. Hiding the truth has ultimately brought to this point. The Prime Minister - said Demirtaş - meets with press editors to tell them not to write the truth. The Prime Minister's view of the world can’t perceive that we fight to bring real democracy and freedom.”

Demirtaş remarked that the Kurdish people would respond to attacks coming from the targeting by the AKP and called on young people to defend themselves. “This people will not bow down to you and be at your service” added Demirtaş who also called on Erdoğan to apologize to both Turkish and Kurdish peoples and mothers in particular. BDP Co-Chair also criticized the Prime Minister for being pleased with the death of Kurds and congratulating soldiers for killing members of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party). "These war actions will never be able to shadow our demands for freedom and peace", ended Demirtaş.
