Democratic candidates: I stand for what Democratic Socialist believe in, just drop the Socialist label because Americans don't like the word socialist. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/431064-dems-to-use-democratic-socialist-label-against-sanders “That’s who Bernie is, everyone knows it, and he does a good job defining what he means by a democratic socialist,” Press said. “After he’s done talking about a $15 minimum wage, 'Medicare for all,' and free college tuition, everybody wants to be a democratic socialist.” But this week, 2020 candidates — and those considering entering the race — have been actively drawing a distinction with Sanders and his brand. At a campaign stop in New Hampshire earlier this week, Sen. Kamala Harris(D-Calif.) was the first to draw a line in the sand. “The people of New Hampshire will tell me what’s required to compete in New Hampshire, but I will tell you I am not a democratic socialist,” Harris said after she was asked if she needed to be a democratic socialist to win the Granite State. “I believe that what voters do want is they want to know that whoever is going to lead understands that in America today, not everyone has an equal opportunity and access to a path to success,” she said before adding that the U.S. needs to “course correct” on the issue of income inequality.
Never understood why the Sanders folks didn't scream bloody murder after the Donna Brazille's comments.
I'm sure they did but the Liberal MSM and the DNC most likely drowned them out. Sanders and the other progressives will be heard loud and clear this time around.
It was easy for the DNC to drown out Sanders and his base since he was the only progressive running in th primaries. We have at least a dozen or more running this time and most will be in the debates. I seriously doubt they will be ignored this time, or pushed aside in favor of a Democratic establishment candidate like Biden.
Totally WRONG. This time, with so many "Progressives" splitting the pie (unlike 2016 when Bernie was the only flavor) it will be harder to stop Biden (with a split opposition). And, after the primaries (assuming Biden gets the Nom), the Progressives will have no choice but to Vote for Biden (unless they want to guarantee 4 more years of Trump). So, in other words: They may be "heard" (loud and clear) but it won't matter.
Progessives see the Democratic establishment as a detriment to true Democratic ideals. Whether Trump wins or someone like Biden wins they still believe they've lost. I believe if Biden wins the primary progressives will once again stay home and not vote. The problem with you diehard Democratic establishment types is you don't know what is about to hit you hard on your left flank.
To be fair they are not socialists. They are Democratic Socialists. There really is a difference which is why most of the progressive candidates want the word socialist dropped. Only Sanders is calling it like it is.
I disagree that the "primary progressives" will stay home and not vote. That is what happened in 2016, and those Dems "who sat it out" facilitated Trump's election. Sitting it out = Voting for Trump.
I seem to recall Sanders being asked the difference between democrats and democrat socialists. He couldn't answer. Does he have an answer now?
Then you have know idea what is coming your way. Whether it's Trump or Biden is still a loss to progressives. Read up on the Justice Democrats doctrine if you think I'm wrong. https://www.justicedemocrats.com/about/
