yes, and they are bad criminals

we do not expect our cops to be criminals - we hold them to a higher standard then criminals

Gain, largely, that's still the main cause. The crazy sort gets a LOT more attention but crime is still mainly a matter of people trying to get something and half the time it works out to they're just surviving like the rest of us

But I thought I'd asked you, so c'mon. Why DO people commit crime?

Had a case here in oklahoma where three intruders were killed w/ homeowners A15. Could he have got all of them with a pistol? Don't know but each situation is different.

Personally, if I was going to use a gun, I would want a gun that fit all situations.

Let's see, I can use what I learned when I arrested people for committing crime and a little from research. A lot of crime is committed by people who have broken families and no structure or ethics. They just don't care if what they do hurts others because they cannot fathom doing things on their own and getting things. They see crime being glorified in their music and athletic heroes, so they emulate them. Being poor does not account for crimes like robbery, rape, murder, and theft of things that are not food. Then there are just people who have no ethics at all and zero impulse control. A quick look at FBI stats shows us who is doing the most crime and we have a road map of why.

These people don't care about the law or the police or anything but themselves, that's why they prey on the rest of us.

Right. That's why we cleared rooms with M16's and shotguns in the Marines.

More of knowing what you don't know.

You obviously don't know that the 223 rounds fired by a rifle break up, tumble, and lose energy faster than pistol caliber rounds, making them safer when it comes to over-penetration.

    https://opspectraining.com/ar-15-platform-reasonable-choice-home-defense/

A self-defense rifle round is appropriate in the home

The .223/5.56 self-defense round is appropriate for use within a home, even in an urban environment.

Ballistic experts have found rounds from these calibers “dump energy” quickly and break apart or begin to tumble after penetrating the first barrier.

Will rifle rounds go through walls? You bet. Will pistol calibers like 9mm, .40 and .45 go through walls? You bet
. Will shotgun rounds go through walls? You bet. That said, there is significant evidence the .223/5.56 self-defense rounds penetrate no more than, and often less than traditional handgun calibers and many shotgun rounds.

you can shoot those 223 round much faster with an ar-15 than a pistol though

Wait....do you mean you can pull the trigger faster or that the round moves faster?

And yet nothing in the compromise bill does that. You may want to actually read the bill before making wild accusations like you did here.

Second, the argument about criminals is also ridiculous. The whole point of the legislation is to try to reduce or make it difficult to commit such an offense and help law enforcement to determine if someone is violating the laws. YOu can't have that with a permitless open carry for instance or no training before purchasing a firearm. The red flag laws should be in place. One of the fastest growing types of homicides in the US is the murder-suicide events. And no, I do not mean school shootings. I mean two parents are getting divorced and one parent kills the other parent and the kids, then commits suicide. Or those who have made severe disturbed threats or exhibited severe mental behavior even though they "technically" pass the background checks.

Here is what the secret service carry:
    upload_2022-6-13_12-55-57.png

I think it is rather disgusting that people who lives are protected by submachine guns are telling us that our lives are not worth protecting at all.

All gun bans MUST begin by banning the guns of the agents protecting the politicians who want to ban guns.

no one is saying you should not be able to own an ar-15, just that they should be harder to buy and you should not be taking them to public places with lots of people loaded and strapped over your shoulders - this isn't the old west anymore

want to carry a gun, concealed carry a hand gun (and this should not require permission to do as it's the polite way to carry a gun)

There is no wild accusation about it.....

Everywhere the guns have been eventually banned started with "common sense" regulations. If you throw a frog directly into a pot of boiling water he's going to jump right out.... You put the frog in warm water and slowly increase the heat.

If they managed to get so called assault rifles Ben all it will take is a high-profile shooting or two with semi-automatic handguns and then they'll want to ban those too. Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong.

There are already roughly 20,000 gun laws on the books that are routinely ignored by criminals. The only thing new gun laws will do is place a burden on those who already obey existing laws.

Criminals will simply continue to ignore the laws as they always have.

Y'all should get together and make a law making it illegal for a criminal to ignore the law! That'll fix them!

Makes no sense. Now your first post in the topic does, you would call the police not answer the door, then when guys breaks the window you would probably call them again, then if he broke the door down your probably crapping your pants.
