You know, I'm sure that this isn't the first time that we've heard this argument. After the Civil war the south simply replaced the slave codes with something else. Sure they had more rights then before, but it was still the slave codes. Just because the laws don't seem like they discriminate against a minority, doesn't they don't. Whether intentional or not, they still do exist.

You haven't helped your case on why American conservative ideology is better than American liberal ideology. History proves American conservatives have a habit of (*)(*)(*)(*)ing social problems up even more than they already are. You can bring up "liberal mistakes", like Detroit, but Detroit declined for a lot more reasons than failed liberal policies, and I can show you plenty of other cities that are now beginning to recover/thrive because of liberal policies for the first time in years. When I go back to Memphis today, can comfortably walk through most of the city even at night without having to bring a dagger with me. Philadelphia is making great progress too.

I have. There are problems, but things in most places are getting better. You, like many other fear mongering conservatives, vastly over blow violent crime statistics. You realize America has been on an overall downward trend for violent crime for 40 years now? Its a third of what it was since statistics started being taken nationally in 72. People like you would fit right in with the puritans of 1690's Salem.
Name them then. If they're as burdensome as slavery, the slave codes, or Jim crow etc, as you have just claimed, then you should easily be able to point out say 5 laws that specifically target race and make race a necessary condition for poverty by holding down a specific race by making meeting the law a qualification they could never attain. Example:grandfather clause "if your granddad could vote so can you" when all blacks grandfather's at the time had been slaves. Off you go then. While you're on that you might want to look up what necessary conditions actually are.
Well, there really is such a thing as white oriented shows. Seinfeld's' biggest criticism of it was; "They'd have us think that you can go down the street for years in NYC and never see a black person."
If I say that racism is real and alive, just in different forms and people don't realize that, then to prove that as true, someone would have to ask for a law or policy that promotes racism. Since you did that, you proved my point. So thank you.
I hate to say it like it's partisan, but sadly it seems that to conservatives here, their defense mechanism is to call others racist. Even when shown proof of said racism (which I have done numerous times on this forum), they either ignore it (99%) or say something to the effect of, "well, white males built this country". I find it pointless to engage them in a rational conversation, but it is fun to show their hypocrisy on obvious events where race is considered.

Oh, you are correct here. Look at their reaction to Obama. The losers have had massive brain farts due to the color of the man's skin, and as a defense mechanism constantly accuse him of being an "anti white racist". And this was happening BEFORE he was even elected. Hell, there are videos on youtube at a Palin rally in 2008 where numerous conservatives were talking about how "the blacks were taking over", and how Obama "hates white people". Oh man, If I had a quarter for every damn time a conservative has said "white people built this country", I'd be a wealthy man.
