A lot of people create their own businesses, the bulk of those employed in the US work for small business.

What opportunity did those small business people have that the rest of us don't?

Many markets, yes. All markets, no.

Of the markets that do, how much of that barrier to entry is government regulation?

What is limited by big business? For example, the mom and pop shop, when a Walmart superstore comes to town? Actually, with Walmart prices, the towns people have more left over to spend on specialty items that a mom and pop shop would carry, that Walmart never will.

Sam Walton's kids came into money. Many kids that do, blow through it, and in a generation or two.

Gates and Buffet were exceptional, how? Did they come from money? Or, did they have a passion that they acted on?

The difference between the rich and the rest of the population has less to do with opportunity and capability, and more to do with drive.

Often that drive has nothing to do with money. Why would someone that solde their business for $30M, start another company - sure isn't because they need more.

They can, but most don't. They don't even try.

I am dismayed that often we blame those that tried, and succeeded on the failure of the rest?

Comparing the likes of Trump/Walton to poor people is absurd.

Everyone who made it today, the rich as some like to call them, not everyone was born with that silver spoon in their mouth. It takes work, and alot of risk to make it from scratch. Some do, but alot fail. So....get up and do it again. The difference is most on the so called poor side want it handed to them with out the risk of maybe losing their house, their life savings, wondering if food will be on the table, not buying X-mass gifts for a few years. Nope, nobody wants to sacrifice to reach that golden ring, they want the golden ring lowered within easy reach.

We may not all be born of the same means when we come out, but life is what you make of it. Some will have to work harder than others, so what, thats life. Utopia is on some other planet, not this one.

Abatements, accelerated depreciation, bailouts, incentives, tax preference items, and overseas tax shelters are all forms of welfare enjoyed exclusively by the wealthy.

The Rich benefit because they are RICH! Awesome

The poor benefit because they are poor! not awesome

The middle class gets screwed. You work to much to get any of the poor benefits and not rich enough to afford any of your own benefits.

Just was reminded of this as I was doing my taxes. SOB Government is taking all my money...... :tears:

Wow, a pic of 3 semi's and they own the roads. Maybe show a pic of Chicago, New York, L.A. during rush hour and ask that question again.

The difference is that the poor person is forced to pay the rich person full market value for access to all those things, because the rich person owns the land from which they can be accessed, and the poor person does not.

All government spending on infrastructure goes to landowners, not those who use the infrastructure.
The difference is that the rich person owns the big corporation whose security and profit the Armed Forces serve, and the poor person gets maimed or killed serving in the Armed Forces.
Poor people don't benefit from the Federal government: they are forced to pay the rich full market value for access to every benefit government spending on services and infrastructure provides.
The answer is yes. You are objectively wrong.
But the rich, who rarely earn their money, qualify for far more and bigger benefits than the poor.
Because they are greedy, privileged, parasitic takers, and the rest of us are being robbed to make them richer.
It seems that way... but only to the ignorant.
The working poor stay poor despite their contributions of labor to wealth production, while the rich rapidly get richer without contributing anything at all to wealth production.

    THAT is not fair.

Those trucks are serving the shoppers who go to Walton's stores because they find value there.

It doesn't matter whom they are serving. They are PAYING landowners (and WalMart owns a lot of land) full market value for access to that road. No one else benefits from it.
