I agree with your last statement. I am a liberal Democrat, & I have little to zero respect for Trump as a leader or as a man. But I agree we need to eliminate some of the extreme political polarization currently afflicting this nation, and re-learn how to work together across the aisle. I agree with almost nothing coming from the conservative side, but I'm willing to find common ground--which I am convinced actually exists--or support politicians from both sides who demonstrate a willingness to work together for the benefit of the country.

Drawing attention to Trump's constant lies & deceits is NOT treason. There are supposed to be checks & balances written into our Constitution, and that process needs to be allowed to function. Trump is an authoritarian leader, which is something the Constitution was written to avoid.

 

Obama was President for 8 years. The Constitution prohibits anyone serving in that office for more than 8 years. Obama can't be trying to overthrow the government, because there's no place for him to serve in it as President again. Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law at Harvard, and knows the Constitution better than you or I or you & I combined. Obama is enjoying retirement, but is concerned about some of the extremism & excesses being demonstrated by Trump as President. I don't blame Obama for that. I'm concerned too.

 

Your post illustrates how easy it is nowdays to become so narrowed in your views that you begin to regard your fellow Americans as the enemy. I don't agree with you or your politics, but I don't regard you as the "enemy." How very sad for you.

I agree we have always prided ourselves on a peaceful transition of power in the Presidency. We did the same in 2016, but in that election, for the first time, there was a growing conviction that the Russians were illegally influencing that election, and some serious suspicions that Trump might be working with them. In such a situation, there is no choice but to investigate. But to investigate is not spying. It's simply looking for the truth. There was no other way to handle this. It was a secret investigation at first, then became public with the Mueller probe. It was totally legit. While Trump was confirmed not colluding with the Russians, he was NOT confirmed innocent of charges that he attempted to obstruct that investigation at different times & ways. The investigation was legitimate & for a valid reason. Trump should be happy he was found innocent of collusion. The way he's acting now, defying subpoenas & instructing his subordinates to ignore them as well, is a breech of law & further evidence of obstruction. It is also creating an unnecessary Constitutional crisis. How can I honor or support a President so careless & thoughtless of the functions of government? I can't.

 

Over 800 former prosecutors, many of them Republicans, have made it very clear that if trump was not president he would be facing dozens of indictments..There’s something comical about Republicans who spent years going after Clinton and impeaching him for a lie about sex, but you don’t care about Russian and our democracy.
