Ronaldo versus Bale in the semis.

Whatever their arguable relative merits in talents, the attitude difference couldn't be more stark.

The ape vs the mermaid, what a delight!

Cristiano has been absolute shayte this whole competition (and to me is one of the more overrated players of the 00's). If wales doesn't take that piece of garbage of a team down I'll kill somebody.

Glad my beloved Italy is still standing. Today they have to beat the Bratwurzts. What a game it will be! :D

LOL! You've got to be kidding? Soccer is one of the most boring games ever invented by man. Hell, even curling is more fun to watch.

While Ronaldo is evidently an primadona and an áss. He is one of the most complete footballers of all time. And he will be remembered as such. At his best, the guy is almost unstoppable. In La Liga, alone, he has scored 260 goals in 233 matches. That's a scoring ratio of 1.13. He is also the only player to score more than 50 goals in five consecutive seasons. Utterly phenomenal.

Sure, he's an outstanding goalscorer with an outstanding physic. However, he is nowhere near being one of "history's great"- Cristiano Ronaldo is not a team player, he can't pass, he can barely dribble his opponent and he is just simply disgusting, just look at him. He is nothing but a fox in the box and nothing more. Definitely not the best player in the world, definitely not even top 5.Messi, Griezmann, Müller, Iniesta, Bale and Agüero, to mention six, are all better over-all than Ronaldo.

As long as we stick to pure strikers I am ready to confess Ronaldo is amongst the best (duuh)...No.2 after Lewandowski. :D

He can barely dribble?? He can barely pass??

He is just a fox in the box?? He has probably scored more wonder goals from outside the box than anyone else.

I suspect that you are confusing the fact that he is an odious human being, with him being one of the most gifted players to have ever graced the game. He is exceptional with his left foot, he is exceptional with his right foot, he is probably the best headers of a ball the game has seen, he can score from inside the box, he can score from outside the box, and he has scored some utterly amazing free kicks. With his strength he can go past layers, he can go through players, he can go over players, whatever you like. He is exceptional in every considerable metric of the game.

Oh and, only Messi has a better assist record than Ronaldo in the modern game. So there goes the whole he can't pass lark.

I forgot to add that he is top scorer in Champions League history and is currently on more goals than Messi in both their careers. I'd have Messi ahead of Ronaldo in a team, but only by a manicured Ronaldo balls hair!

Look, Ronaldo is absolutely fantastic when it comes to goal scoring, here he is probably the most consistent player there is. Nobody is denying that. However, when it comes to game impact, he is not at all very consistent. What I meant with "he can barely dribble" was not literally speaking, but was referring to the fact that he is not as dangerous on the ball as he is off the ball. His days of beating a player with skill or bursting past them in full speed are over. He has become a true and typical "Number 9". Additionally, he is not at all "playing for the team" but more playing for himself. Selfish piece of puke. His freekicks has also declined tremendously.

An absolute freak of nature as far as reaction and goal scoring goes, but not at all a footballing genius like for example Messi and Iniesta are. I am not saying he is a bad footballer, but when everything is summed together he is nowhere near "Messi and company". Or from a historical POV; Cruijff, Maradona etc.

Fair enough, but almost no one in the footballing World agrees with your take on him.

PS - "when it comes to game impact, he is not at all very consistent" - 50 goals in five consecutive seasons says he is arguably the most consistent player in history.

And everything else. Remember he is a winger.

Not anymore, he is not. Both Zizou and Portugal have, almost exclusively, used him as CF.

He has been a winger for 98% of his career.

You argue a lost cause well Ritter. The UK could do with your services in the up coming Brexit negotiations!!

It is not true. Nowadays he does no good when on the wing. He wants to do eveything for himself and ends up screwing it all up. Real Madrid play some kind of 4-3-3 and in this his "starting position" is on the left wing of the three upfront, but it is quite a free role and more of a "false 9" or "left second striker" where the role is more oriented to the centre. In NT, he is a pure CF.

Well it's half-time and rien ne s'est passé...apart from Ronaldo being indecisive :/ it would suck if this match went to penalties
