Do You Really Dislike Others For Your Own Traits?

I have a good friend name Jeannie. She is a wonderful woman with a huge heart. Her father married a woman who was selfish and exploitative, and she did not like that woman. Then she attempted to make amends with her, and as she did she told me something to the effect of that people don't like other people for the traits that they reject in themselves.

No, this is wrong. This is completely wrong. People like others for traits that they like, whether or not they have the same traits, and they dislike others for traits that they dislike, whether or not they have the same traits. Sure, Hitler and Stalin, who were enemies, had many things in common with one another. But most American soldiers who hated Hitler did not have many qualities in common with him.

A similar claim is the Buddhist “law of attraction” - that like attracts like. Likewise wrong. People attract different things and for different reasons. Sometimes they attract people who are like themselves; sometimes they attract people who are not like themselves at all. The same person can attract terrible people and wonderful people within less than a month of one another. This would not be the case if the like attracts the like.

I have attracted both positive and negative attention from many people. Some of these people were like one another, and some were not. I have attracted the positive attention of a number of wonderful people. I have attracted the negative attention of a number of other people. I do not see much of a common thread that runs through both. Even among the people who hated me I have ended up seeing good traits. However they were in no way like the women whom I have loved.

Certainly there are times when people hate others for traits in themselves that they reject. But they may also hate others for traits that they have that they do not have at all. Jeannie is in no way like that woman. She is kind, ethical and compassionate. She had every right to dislike the woman who played her father for a fool, and it had nothing to do with her own traits. She never played anyone for a fool, and she never took advantage of anyone.

So it is important that this be clarified. Once again, sometimes people hate others for traits that they reject in themselves; sometimes they hate other for traits that they do not have at all. It is not about self-reflection or anything of the sort. It is about what you value as opposed to what you do not value. And this is the case, once again, whether or not you have the same traits yourself.

You're over thinking it waaaay too much. Here's the deal, you be as decent a person as you can be, and if someone doesn't like you that's just too damn bad. Don't worry about things you can't do anything about.

spend your energy on things you can actually control you'll achieve much more and be far happier

do you hate others for a certain trait you see in yourself.... that's an interesting question seeing that you use the word 'hate' so loosely and easily. How difficult is it for a person to 'grow' hatred for another person? Much time would need to be spent with that person in order to develop 'hatred'. But why would you keep yourself involved with someone you are growing to 'hate'? And why would you be around such a person if you are not being 'forced' to?

Why would I continually get myself involved with Christians, if I hate what Christians do? Or why would I continually get myself involved with Atheists, if I hate what Atheists do? Why would I continually get myself involved with the 'squares' in life, if I hate what the 'squares' do? Why would I continually get myself involved with substance abusers if I hate what the substance abusers do? Hating someone doesn't make too much sense unless you are bound to them in some way, like family members. Otherwise, it's just fun and jokes to 'hate' on others.

if I hated what LGBT persons did, why would I continually get myself involved with them? I can leave them alone and give them peace by leaving their 'presence' and doing so would help both me and them be/become 'better' persons.

But being 'forced' to be in a certain place or environment, such as school, can lead to such 'hatreds' because the person is unable to remove themselves from that place. And often times, if not corrected and if the 'hatred' part becomes too strong, it can lead to suicides, which have already occurred.

So why would a 'bully' hate a regular student? And why wouldn't the 'regular' student be assisted when they make known the bullying to proper authorities such as teachers, principles or even parents? So let's just assume that both the bully and the 'regular' student 'hate' one another. Which student would be needing correction?

Maybe the bully hates because he or she feels as if he or she has been waived on attention. After all, the victim of that bully attracted the bully's attention somehow and enough to become a target and victim. But if the 'regular' student is not doing anything to attract attention but being 'regular' why should there be any thought that he or she was trying to 'gain the spotlight'?

But physical violence is just as 'life altering' as mental, emotional or even murderous violence.

There is a certain kind of 'bullying' that is rarely addressed though. This is the bullying of 'enabling'. When proper correction and proper discipline is not given, it is negligence and this can be a form of passive-aggressive bullying.

If a grade school teacher intentionally 'disregards' a student or intentionally 'does not' give a particular student any 'attention', even when normal to do so, it can be a form of bullying. It may not be ignoring but it can be analogized to 'selective treatment'.

But the real sad part about this whole scenario is that the adult teacher is being paid for being a teacher and that the adult teacher is an adult, and not a child. This is the real 'sad' part of the whole scenario.

But if nothing is done about this adult teacher, who is going to benefit with him or her being a teacher in that school?

Putting aside all foolish spiritual ideas and notions and moving onto the 'reality' of the day, having an adult person behave and handle things as a child would or even worse, wouldn't matter if it was some spiritual thing or a mental or psychological or emotional thing on their part. The reality of the whole matter is that a person is getting paid a paycheck to negatively effect those who will one day need to find paying jobs of their own.

And this gets into bad hiring, bad checks and balances, bad maintenance, bad human relations, bad co worker associations, bad teacher/parent relationships.. and this trickles out into the little neighborhood they are in. It begins negatively effecting the entire neighborhood eventually. All due to an adult aged person who does not live in a 'reality' based day but on some spiritual or emotional or psychological 'realm'.

If I was an adult Christian or Muslim teacher and if a student asked me what the answer to a basic math question was, it would be just as unrealistic for me to respond with a Bible verse or a Qur'an verse. I would be in my own spiritual or emotional or psychological 'realm' which has nothing to do with the 'reality' of the question asked.

And this can lead to adult related encounters. If adults are gathered in a public venue and needs to all share a 'common area', not everyone in that place is going to be associated with the same 'sacred texts' as everyone else and some might rely on scientific texts as their texts of references. But for adults to have to be 'checked' for not being able to handle their own discussions or conversations properly on their own, and when an adult does not know how to address the situation as an adult, then those adults are acting like high school bullies and not adults. They are acting like high school 'enemies' and not adult aged persons needing to get through their monthly bills in a timely way or else they might get kicked to the curb.

Having responsibilities 'forces' a person to keep up or else get shipped away. But if the responsibilities are 'taken' cared of by another person, then it is not really their own responsibility but the responsibility of the other(s) who is supplying for the necessary payments and deposits and other duties needing to be done.

Here is another example.. Let's assume that a High Government Official for D.C. had to begin sweeping streets in a different State due to a letting go of the job or something. And now let's imagine that that worker became 'stuck', for whatever reason, in that state where the only job offered to him or her was the street sweeping job. And let's say that all the other Government officials of that State treated this D.C. official with that sort of 'selective treatment' but not in a beneficial way. What might that worker become. He or she might be 'reduced' back into the level that everyone else is on.

So the problem is not one of 'rising up' to a certain level.. The problem is of not allowing self get dragged down to levels where adults are behaving and doing and answering as children. What adult wants to become or act or do as a child when he or she is not a child? To do so would be some personal spiritual, emotional or psychological 'thing' he or she is employing and engaging self with. And if an entire city or state or family or home is involved in the same kind of spiritual, emotional or psychological 'level' or 'knowledge', then anyone outside of that accepted way of living will be seen as the strange one and not any of the others. So I guess a normal person can be seen strange is he or she was surrounded by nothing but strange persons with no form of 'normal' judgement to judge between the parties.

But once again, there are hiring practices, there are the 3 branches of Government, there are the checks and balances that should keep some level of correct paper work involved. But after the Common Core Education came around with strange math formulas making absolutely no sense to basic addition, the world has gone flippy.

How in God's Name can 2+3 equal 4 or 6?

    I can see how you can take away from a certain grouping of 1's, such as 1 1, and 1 1 1, 2 and 3, but that is 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 and not 2 and 3.

It might have been much easier for parents as well as students to have understood the question if the question was how can 5 1's add up to 4 or 6?

So when you look at how Teachers have treated both the students and the parents to these students, they are acting like children getting paid to be adult teachers yet acting like children.

Instead of asking how 5 ones can make 4, they seem like they are trying to 'outsmart' the student by using the terms 2 and 3.

And what adult wants to or enjoys outsmarting any other adult?

From Common Core to how to properly use the female condom in the rectum.. all in the same grade schools... and all being taught and endorsed by a group of trusted adults.

Rather than condemning all of them, why not ask a few of them 'what the heck is going on in your head or brain or mind' that you would even do such a thing?

Because although both the Common Core education nor the grade school sex education with teachings of female condoms, illegal, it does raise concerns.

If what is being 'taught' is not concerning, then just look at what has become in the world since the Common Core education began being taught.

If persons want to argue that nothing too out of the ordinary has become, maybe trying to explain the 'coronal' hole in the sun, supposedly the size of 50 Earths wide, can help ease the concerns.

Coronal holes typically last for several months, shifting around the surface of the sun, changing shape.
    OCTOBER 18, 2015
    https://www.cnet.com/news/what-happens-when-a-giant-hole-opens-on-the-sun/

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this picture of the sun on June 18, 2013, showing a huge coronal hole – seen here in dark blue - spread out over almost the entire upper left quadrant of the sun.
    https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sunearth/news/gallery/20130618-coronalhole.html#.Wo0yEk76zIU

I mean, we can sit here and argue all we want about me exaggerating the topic out of proportion, but here are the articles themselves.

So what would be more 'concerning'? That the sun has a 'coronal' hole in it or that CNET might have eluded me into false thinking and not taking this topic too seriously. So how can this coronal hole be significant enough to be concerned about?

Different rays? Different strengths. Different mental and physical changes that should be expected. Different water, current and temperature changes. Different 'everything' under the sun, including vegetation life. Remember, we are living on a great big Planet made of much and much vegetation.

equatorial diameter of 12,756 km (7926 mi), and a polar diameter of 12713.6 km (7899.86 mi).
    https://www.universetoday.com/15055/diameter-of-earth/

50 Earths wide, equatorially, would equal around 396,300 miles. 50 Earths wide, polarly, would equal around 394,993 miles.

#1. The hole will patch itself up or disappear.. seeing that they used the word 'hole' and not a 'glazing' of sorts.

#2. The hole will not patch itself up or disappear and we should take steps in 'cooperating' with what we are given.

But when will we be let known when the 'hole' is patched or not or when will we be informed of what 'sorts' of personal 'health' related steps we might be able to take?

As this image is 5 years old and the phenomenon is pretty much constant to some extent, your strange despair is unfounded.

Forty-two of the fifty U.S. states and the District of Columbia are members of the Common Core State Standards Initiative, with the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, Alaska, Nebraska, Indiana, and South Carolina not adopting the initiative at a state level.[12] Minnesota adopted the English Language Arts standards but not the Mathematics standards.[13] Although a fast trend the curriculum lost momentum and found at least 12 states introducing legislation to prohibit implementation.[14] Three states that initially adopted Common Core have since decided to repeal or replace it, namely Indiana, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.[15]

Standards were released for mathematics and English language arts on June 2, 2010, with a majority of states adopting the standards in the subsequent months. (See below for current status.) States were given an incentive to adopt the Common Core Standards through the possibility of competitive federal Race to the Top grants. U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the Race to the Top competitive grants on July 24, 2009, as a motivator for education reform. To be eligible, states had to adopt "internationally benchmarked standards and assessments that prepare students for success in college and the work place."[16]Though states could adopt other college- and career-ready standards and still be eligible, they were awarded extra points in their Race to the Top applications if they adopted the Common Core standards by August 2, 2010. Forty-one states made the promise in their application.[17][18] Virginia and Texas were two states that chose to write their own college and career-ready standards, and were subsequently eligible for Race to the Top. Development of the Common Core Standards was funded by the governors and state schools chiefs, with additional support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Pearson Publishing Company, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, and others.

Who would even think that Common Core Educations can stress out, even the sun, that much?

John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

    I love You Lord!

Just as many persons have been taught, you can't cry over spilt milk. Once it's gone, you need to move on.

What do you think this means?

Luke 9:59-60 "And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God."

What is the difference between 'following' Jesus and 'going and preaching the kingdom of God'?

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

How could have this person have known anything about the Kingdom of God if he or she was not 'born' of water and of the Spirit?

Luke 9:57-58 "And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."

Luke 9:59-62 "And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

    -

Matthew 15:27 "And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."

    Luke 18:9-14
"And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."

The total population of Israel during those times was probably not what it is currently. So for Him, Jesus Christ, entering in a modern city with all of the city's population with all of the current technology and advancements since those days, might result in a lot few 'disciples' and maybe alot less 'accusers'.
