My hatred of Trump would be no less if he were to declare himself a liberal Democrat tomorrow. Trump is absolute scum and the people who support him ought to be ashamed.

I remember the meme "Hate is Not A Family Value". Haters are going to corrode their insides and grind their teeth at night.

Trump is not abnormal. He just wasn't groomed since birth for a life in politics, so he's clumsy. Try to imagine Alexandria Ocasio Cortez or Bernie Sanders running a large corporation . See?

Before I answer, let me say that I didn't vote for Obama in either of his two elections. But when he was first elected, I was nevertheless proud of America for electing its first black president. My world did not come crashing down. I didn't hate. I hoped my reservations about Obama would prove to be unfounded, and I hoped for nothing but the best for America. At the same time, I thought that if he was not all that good of a president, he would only be the president for a finite amount of time, and we would eventually have a new president - perhaps a more conservative president. And I did not lose sight of the fact that the political pendulum swings. 2008 and 2012 were the Democrats' years to win. 2016 was the Republicans' year to win. The pendulum swings.

So why should Democrats feel such emotional trauma over 2016 and potentially again in 2020?

The truth is, they shouldn't. They should just be patriotic and support our country and be a good faith partner in the political arena even though the president is not from their party. And they should remain rational and not hate. This goes for Republicans too when they lose. This is also true for the winner in either party. We are all Americans.

I am a teacher in my present job. And I take satisfaction when my students learn. And when we lose or somehow fail, we should take away some learning from the experience.

And so I don't feel joy because my political rivals lost. I may feel joy at winning. As for the other side, I may feel a sense of satisfaction that they may learn that their candidate wasn't good, or their platform didn't resonate, or that the majority of Americans agreed with me. But if my side loses, I don't hate my fellow Americans, and I don't lose my mind. I still love my country and wish for the best for her. And I know that the pendulum swings.

I am quite fond of Alex, but he did post once that he thought Trump is going to suspend the Constitution and declare himself dictator for life after he is re-elected. I call that stupid.

I think it's jealousy. Really, I do. Trump hatred goes back to the 90's at least. Long before Russia meddling and all that. The hate was based on his wealth and his ostentation as far as I can make out. As for why people hate rich bigmouths who have done nothing personal against them ... with all the violent criminals out there who do worse?

I honestly can't think of anything but jealousy.

He hasn’t had a normal upbringing and someone forgot to teach him about boasting and lying.
Are all men running big businesses like him?

You're unfamiliar with the phrase "The Happy Warrior"? (That was a Democrat who was first called that, though the phrase goes back much further.)

Lots of people get off on being angry at what they regard as wrong things

What do you Trumpers want from non-Trumpers anyway? You act as if you won't be satisfied until the entirety of America is one big Rally and everyone who ever dared say or even thought anything that Trump wouldn't like has been locked up or deported

Someone also forgot to teach him about manners, logic, and ethics.

Most people who run big businesses are generally honest and trustworthy, though they can be canny and some are not above sharp practice. A commonality to many very, very wealthy individuals is that they seek to be of service to others even above making money and this is how they make so much.

Me, I'd settle for some originality and cleverness. We hear the same tired old insults everyday. It is boring.

    Welcome to TRUMP'S America.

Obviously, this "culture of mean" is a Direct Result of Trump's Politics of Division.

Granted, such is to be expected when any country facilitates the election of...

A Racist, Misogynist, Serial Rapist (Like Trump).

But still, Trump's TOXICITY is Tragic for America.:smh:

No, I am not unfamiliar with it. Are you familiar with the term "whiner"?

I will be satisfied when Trump haters get it through their heads that there are people who are neither Trump supporters nor Trump haters. We exist.

I will also be satisfied when someone tells me how their life had been made worse by Trump. So far, I've only heard invective and whining in the media and here.

    Yeah? And, So What?

I could imagine that. Very Easily.

If they had Daddies who gave them $413 Million. See?

Thus, your dig at AOC and Bernie is an Epic FAIL.

    Carry on.:salute:
