They can split the state if Congress approves, under A4S3.

Splitting Cali would imperil the commies' automatic 86 EC vote head start every presidential election.

    I say do it!

Cali's Big Blue Utopia couldn't be worth more than about 30... added to NY's 31, for a net loss of 25....which would be equivalent to handing Illinois and New Hampshire over to the Red Team, plus whatever the split would garner.

AKA; why commies will never agree to a split.

I guess you'd have to take a poll or something. See who is interested and if you have enough to take it to the feds for approval, and then on a state level with a vote and a law. Not sure.

I do believe now is the time. It will have to be done quickly, while they are in turmoil.

Congress is not going to approve poll results, so the CA legislature has to agree first.

I just meant that as a way to see if there is even enough interest to move forward. I don't expect the legislature to listen to a poll.

If you think the people are not in charge in California, what do you think of our national government? Most people think that tax policy should not favor the rich, but it does. Most people believe in some sort of firearm restrictions, but we have few of them. Most people voted against Donald Trump for president, but he won. Compared to the federal government, California is an exemplary example of a republican form of government.

Of course, the republican form of government is meant to insure that the majority doesn't tyrannize the minorities. That seems to be working. We the people, the majority, have almost zero control over that minority that makes up the political class in Washington, DC.

    Dunno where you're getting that...
...but under the Constitution, the will of the People, as represented by 3/4 of the states, overrides that of any other group of people; and They have made Their will very plain indeed over the last couple of centuries by refusing to repeal 2A - which, incidentally, says that at the federal level, there are, if anything, too many firearms restrictions.
Yeah, well since the very same people who ratified the guarantee clause also ratified A2S1C2, we don't have to think too hard about whether the Electoral College is consonant with a republican form of government as it was understood circa 1787.
