agreed, the media was always slanted to the left. but the newsman of the past believed in trying to be out of the fray, and give you a report of what happened. You know, we don't expect everyone can actually understand what facts are. And the facts are these. Phillips (indian you reference) is actually videoed walking of his own volition into and then directly in front of "the young punk" you believe somehow did this magic act of what? Making Phillips walk directly at him, and then just as magically bang his drum in the kids face?

I don't think they want to suppress the history, they want to suppress the veneration of the rebels who fought for the right to own slaves. I think there is a big diff. These are statutes and monuments on public land to people who believed that a large minority of the population of those states were not human beings like themselves but a sub race. The history of those should be kept alive in museums. No German wants statues of Hitler displayed, but no one wants his history erased. To take it even further, a statue of Lee during the time of the Mex-American war in US ARMY garb would be appropriate on public grounds.

Whether they owned slaves or not, the fought for an economic system that was based on slavery and most of them believed that you could own another person. I don't know if you consider me left or center, I certainly don't consider myself left. But I don't hate them, I just don't want them venerated that they fought for a war to keep slavery. I don't hate the Germans or the Japanese, But I don't want to see a statue in a public garden or Park in Milwaukee or Honolulu to Yamamoto or Rommel.

 

You talk about self governance and I want it put to the town that these statues are placed,, if they want them removed who are you or I to say otherwise.

Many northerners fought for the south
