"Misinformation and fear are the only weapons the liberal party and its supporters have". Thanks Gobsmacked for showing us all the light. Evil Libs !

Go Labor put them in their place. All the ALP should be cannonised. Wonderful truthfull saints that they are.

    Please gimme a break !

"To misinform and fear monger is malicious and self serving". Do you not remember the lead up to the GST ? Serious double standards here. Both parties are as bad as each other. Both parties stink just the same, and use the same tricks.

DV I sometimes run out of patience with double standards from both sides. I find it rich to accuse someone of something all the while do the very thing your accusing them of.

Slippery, I'm sure you and I and everyone at the time can be truthful in saying that despite the fact that labor played opposition during gst, they did not delve to the depths of the current opposition, which is seemingly wanting Australia to go under to validate their point. I'm sure another GFC will be blamed on the price on carbon, that is the extent these guys are going to. How about the opposition simply say," we don't think it will be good for the country", and then when all is said and done, simply let it slide by or say"I told you so". How destructive is this for the confidence of Australia, especially when it is likely to have little impact as is predicted by all experts. Abbott is a destructive force in Australian politics and not based on any decisions he makes like gillard and labor but because that is his manner, which most Australians see through. Many that tick "yes" for Abbott in the polls do so out of spite for gillard. So with that taken into account, she is still in a pretty good position while Abbott is opposition leader.

Yes it is sad that people will actually be unhappy if the CTS works, it's a sad reflection on our society and it's values.

I agree totally with the title of this thread...

Don't lie about the Carbon Tax (CTS)

The CTS will increase the prices on heavily polluting industries, this increase will be passed on to consumers.
Consumers will have 2 choices, be more careful with usage, find an alternative, or pay the cost.
This will disadvantage some industry and business, most of these will be compensated in some manner if that impact is significant and unavoidable and there is no alternative.
Low income earners have been given a fairly substantial tax break to help cover the increase, they too however will be expected to live cleaner and look at reducing waste.
Pensioners and welfare recipients have received increases in payments but there is no reason they cannot be careful too (That's from Dad a 96 year old pensioner)
A significant amount of monies raised will be given under controlled conditions to third world countries. For example, some money should be given to Amazonian Indian tribes that officially own the rain forests so that they can derive an income from them as carbon soaks instead of having to sell the timber or minerals to multinational companies to exploit.
A significant amount of money will go to alternatives research and development.
Some money will be milked off by pollies and unscrupulous business.
    Some will be wasted.
    Hey we are all human

So me and you and all other average Austalians will foot this bill through energy prices plus the Government will give back more than 50% of the revenue the carbon tax generates to the big polluters.

So they get a double whamy gov gives them back more than half the revenue the CT generates plus they pass on this direct cost to us through energy prices.

This doen't penalise the big polluters at all, where is the incentive to go to cleaner energy.

At the end of the year these big polluters on paper will show that they may have not increased their carbon foot print or even decreased it by the purchase of carbon credits, when in the REAL world the may have increased their CO2 output.

How on earth do you think this will be successful in cleaning up our pollution?

Banks are also getting into this picture they are buying up land so they can farm carbon credits to sell to the big polluters.

And brokers are gearing up to trade carbon credits on the stock exchange.

This will not work in curbing CO2 emissions, just look at the European Unions Emissions Trading Scheme it has been a big failure that has been plagued with rorts and fraud.

And they haven't even come close to reducing their emissions, they are more worried about the health of the carbon pricing market that they are about reducing pollution.

No we have only one choice we pay the cost.

Are you trying to tell me that if all households turn of that extra light or tv they would have left on before this will make all our pollution problems disappear?

Not thats a debunking if i've ever heard one.

Wake up and smell the air dude its full of CO2.

You mean like the steel and aluminium manufactures, dude the government is paying them to stay in Australia, their already to pack up and go overseas.

You naive dear, your going to need every penny as the years pass my friend, otherwise people like you might have even taken a shot at Gillard, thats why she has increased the tax free threshold because your going to need every penny.

I dont know many pensioners that aren't careful with their money, after all its not as they are on a good wicket or anything, its just enough to keep them feed and clothed.

OOHHH have you been given a guarantee in writing that the pigs at the UN will not dig their dirty little fingers in the cooky jar.

For heavens sake mate corporations are already fighting to have access to these funds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you kidding me, you're joking right, Nigeria has one of the largest oil reserves in the world and her oil supplies most if not all the world.

How are her citizens living? Do you know?

The money given for research will be like flushing it down the toilet!

What are they going to build 1/8 sized models that good for nothing.

Are you happy about this one?

Being human has nothing to do with it, for too long we have bent over backwards while handing them the vasaline, as long as we have a beer and a steak on the table she'll be right mate.

NNNAAAAHHHH thats not good enough anymore.

In france they increased the age of retirement from 60 to 62 (males) and there were riots in the streets.

In Australia they increased the retirement age from 65 to 67 and noone not one person said booo.

Its time to stand up for ourselves and our kids future.

Well maybe we will need it all, but this doesn't make us worse off, does it? Highly doubt this to be the case though! I'll believe the experts and treasury before I believe Abbott and his 70 billion dollar black hole oversight!

The title of this thread was a tongue in cheek way of saying, "it will be too hard and dangerous to tell the truth about the carbon tax". This is political censorship at it`s lowest.

Der, but it's not. It should read .."it will be too hard and dangerous to tell lies about the carbon tax" But some unscrupulous ones will try and alas a few will succeed.

What I said, was the truth
