You should have included “Hanson" "Hinch" and anybody else not related to the two parties. For this reason I will not vote.

I must say, for my preference with the few choices is Albanese. While this complete fiasco of government is acting out its own demise in public, I am reminded of the same from Labor government. Should we look to the failure of Labor at this time? Yes. Because it was the start, it was the lesson not learnt and it demonstrated just how the people felt about such with electoral demise almost costing the party representation.

So now we can ask, who is worse (rhetorical question as I know how the drones will react)? the party that lied to the Australian people to overthrow elected leadership to promote self-interest? OR the party that repeats the same? I am not sure the party can be held to same but I am sure others will point out the lies should they exist. Clearly the point is that self-interest is ruling these parties to gain the leadership of the nation pandering to the money corrupting the democracy for the purpose of self-promotion...

    Sad day in Australian politics.

Oh and to declare political leaning. I will not ever vote for the lies and self-interest of Shorten who will sell his support simply to hold the top job. His refusal to condemn domestic abuse 7 times due to political expediency is just a small example of this despicable person.

I never really like Turnbull as he always struck me as a swami git with little connection to the people. when one of his supporters stated that all should back the faulty energy policy as it was not life or death just demonstrated he surrounded himself with people out of touch to continue to support his own out of touch beliefs.

Can Dutton lead the party from the death it is heading??? I do feel the same as many that Bishop is the only chance but it is no longer about one person but the party. I think the only way the Coalition can rise from following Labor's crushing government is if Shorten loses by showing his real character or lack of it...
BUT where to from here now is the question?

They aren’t melting down over anything but power. A factional sh!t fight propagated by a bitter little man.

Dutton is a fool. Used by Abbott to destroy his foe. Dutton fueled by ego was always an easy tool for Abbott to use.

Plibersek remarked it was the start of the death of the Liberal party. I don’t often agree with this parasite but I feel she may be right.

Abbott is a slimy piece of scum. He is convinced he has been chosen by God to be the PM.

All we need is either Abbott or an Abbott puppet running the country while Trump is still president

It's still all about "popularity". We have the political process we deserve. May as well hand it to Channel 10 and let those who can be bothered vote for their favourites in the reality show.

I don’t think this about popularity. I would hazard to say that Turnbull is far more popular than Dutton to the electorate at large.

This is about vengeance, and the fact that Turnbull has pulled the Libs as far left as they have been since Fraser. All Johnny’s good work of establishing the party to the conservative right has been undone, and now his resident bum licker, Abbott, and a host of blow hards are trying to reclaim the lost ground.

Questions have been asked why now? The economy is strong and employment solid, the Libs were not that far behind on two party prefered. So why now, and why with Dutton? The answer is simple. The conservative right could not risk Turnbull winning an election. So when the NEG fell apart, deliberately destroyed from within, it gave the far right a reason to strike, policy difference. A thin cover for the real reason, treachery. Dutton was the only fool with a big enough ego to risk political suicide.

Today we will have a new PM. Even if the 43 signatures don’t reach Turnbulls desk, he will step aside and let the vote play out. If Dutton is still there and wins the vote, god help us, Turnbull will quit immediately, therefore creating a bi-election and insuring Dutton can not gaurantee supply. Therefore the GG may have to disolve parliament and we will go into caretaker mode and vote in October. Dutton is in an untenable position and I think he will withdraw from a three way vote.

If either of the other two get in Turnbull will remain for the term, uncontesting his seat at the next election. This would allow time for the next PM to establish themselves.

If only Turnbull had shown this much spine during his time as PM!

It has been a sad week for Australia, but riveting viewing for us political tragics.

Couldn't agree more. Shame on the Australian people and the mainstream media for allowing politics to descend into a B grade version of "Hollywood Housewives".

Prime Minister Morrison. The 8th winner of a lifetime tax free pension including staff and office. That's 8 now in about 10 years.

Well, the Liberal party have salvaged something from the damage that Abbott and co have inflicted on them.

Dutton was the sacrificial lamb in Abbott's last act of revenge on Turnbull. Turnbull got the last laugh in getting his guys elected in the end.

Spot on! I don’t think it will end with Turnbull, Morrison knows he’ll have a huge target on his back.

    Gee, you overlooked Morrison LRL!

I think Morrison will actually be quite popular. He kinda gives me Howard vibes. If Shorten couldn't beat Turnbull I don't see how he beats Morrison. I just don't think he's very popular. I'm a moderate lefty (although Malcolm was my jam) and I used to like Shorten when he was disability minister, but even I'm pretty sick of his face these days. He was way too caught up in all that insufferable Rudd/Gillard drama. At least ScoMo is someone new. Shorten would've walked it against Dutton, probably edged out Malcolm, but Idk, he might lose out to ScoMo. How many leaders have lost a general election and gone on to win?

I was so relieved to see him instead of lord Voldemort that I almost forgot all the stop the boats and the Tampa stuff.

Agree that Bill may not have all it takes to beat Morrison.
Dunno if Albo can cut it either. We need a hero!

Haha I know how you feel! ScoMo seems infinitely more palettable when you directly compare him to Dutton as opposed to just looking at him in isolation.

I'm holding out for a hero!

What do you think would happen if there were an election now! A mish mash of tired old recycleds? Or would there be an influx of new, excited, enthusiastic, non Lib/Lab, candidates? ( they would shoot out of the ranks in protest against the shenanigans of the last week).

They are just waiting for the sign!

Haha, sadly it's probably too much wishful thinking to assume it'll be anything but more of the same.

Probably another slim majority, presumably for Labor, or possibly a hung parliament and certainly more drama... sooner or later.

Yes, they should definitely harness some of the cheap, practically endless Uranium stockpiles we are so lucky to have but so stupid to not use.
