On twitter we have an action to pray for kurdish victims of earthquake. One Turk comment on that:

"God will not accept prayers for terrorists."

the army is fighting a useless war why not go to van and help kurds since turkey refuses to give them independence then it has to look after the region as well.

the irony is some Turks are now happy about it on twitter and say why should turkey help "terrorists" !!!! and i am reading similar comments on some Turkish forums..

the Turkish state didn't help Kurds in wan !!! they did not send any search teams .. only local kurds help with their small tools!!! ...

R.I.P. to all the martyrs ... i'm very very sad... :(

They are 'helped' because they are labeled as Turks.
It reminds me the earthquake of Diyarbakir in mid 1960s, a Turkish minister visited them, it was cold, people are homeless and freezing, in his speech to them he said "I hear people speaking a so called language that souds like dog barking (refering to Kurdish language), remember that we are Turks on this land".

The earthquake put down a prison wall, over 200 political prisoners found their way to freedom.
Yesterday I was watching a report from the Aljazeera TV in Van, the reporter said "there is already a lot of poverty in this region, I can't go to the details because I see too many policemen and government agent around me".

Well I already expected emphasizing ethniticy and and give condolences to Kurds only, from you. However my condolences goes to both Turkish and Kurdish victims. I guess that's what seperate us both. May such events never occur in the region again.

Of course, dude, this is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing internets. First thing I question about those people is not that if they're Turkish, but that if they're even human. But what do you expect? This is internet. I could also pick a Kurdish internet warrior if this happened somewhere in more Central or Eastern Turkey. That guy "KurdishPKKTerrorKisser" poster here applauded the Ankara blast by TAK but I didn't go (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about it and blame it on Kurds.

Stop (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about some internet (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s from internet. Because it's not that hard find that kind of people in it.

About the state thingy. This is not true and a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing slander. Why I'm not suprised you turned such a horrific event into a political propaganda? If you could you would also blame the earthquake to Turkey, correct?

I take you didn't even read the article, how very surprising. The Red Crescent immediately sent supplies and AKUT went there to help. There more tents to be from Red Crescent aswell. Even the Turkish troops joined the rescue efforts and many of Turkish programs gave the bank details about how can they help.

    Shame on you dude.

You speak like as if you went to Diyarbakir with the Turkish minister and seen everything, even the felt how cold it was. :D Or is this how things work in your rainbow isle of fantasy?

It is true it has put a down a prison wall, but it's not certain if they're "political" prisoners. 150 prisoners escaped but approx. 50 of them returned stating that they escaped because they were panicked during the earthquake.

NOT NEED TO SWEAR YOU SHOULD SWEAR ON YOUR TURKISH COUNTER PARTS WHO CALL KURDS IN VAN "TERRORISTS".

i actually did not , the turks and turkey did by 1. saying all disgusting things about the people in van 2. by turkey sending help to rescue after 24 hours !!

i did not in any video see any turkish troops but i saw "turkish agents" even Al jazeera TV reporter said "the kurds here are already poor but i cant go into much details because there are agents all over the place".

shame on me cos i show how pathetic some turks have been regarding this disaster ??? the only people that truly cared about this disaster are kurds world wide .

so no its a shame on your "some" people they act this way to such a horrific event.

    4, 2011, 8:05 pm | Under Kurdistan, Turkey

Yesterday an earthquake hit the Kurdish city of Wan (Van) and its surrounding region. Hundreds of Kurds have been died and thousands are injured or homeless. Kurdish civilians are reporting that the Turkish government have not responded to the needs of the affected people in the region and the Turkish government have also rejected emergency relief by several countries.

The Kurdish mayor of Amed (Diyarbakir) gave an interview to the Swedish News Agency TT, in which he said that the Turkish government is not doing enough because the victims are Kurds.

All this is happening at the same time as Turkey has mobilized thousands of troops to fight the PKK in Iraqi Kurdistan. Turkey has the time, recourses and will to wage war but not to sufficiently help the civilian Kurdish population of Wan. The Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdağ even said that “all was good in eastern [Kurdish] province…”

Putting all this aside, something that have disgusted and angered the Kurdish public opinion in all parts of Kurdistan is statements made by Turkish hosts of TV-programs and ordinary Turks on social medias like Facebook regarding the Kurdish people affected by the earthquake.

One female host of the Turkish news channel Haper Turk said something in the line of; “Today Turkey was shaken by another sad news … all of Turkey … despite that it [the news] came from the east [Kurdish regions], from Van, we were all deeply shaken by this news …”

This was followed by another female host of Turkish a-TV saying something like; “Throw rocks, we do [she is referring to Kurds], and strike in the mountains like we were out on a bird hunt when it suits us. But when something happens we are calling for the police and Mehmetcik [Turkish soldiers]. We should have some balance here. On hard days you [Kurds] are calling on them but then you are chasing them away as if you were hunting birds in the mountains. I am meaning that one should put them [Kurds] in their place.”

Ordinary Turks on social mediums like Facebook don’t use the same poetic language, instead they write things like; “I hope that all the bastards of Van dies so that we can get rid of these (*)(*)(*)(*) Kurds.”

And of course, one Turkish write takes the opportunity to lecture everyone on how not to report on the earthquake and at the same time write a couple of words on Gaddafis death.

The lack of empathy towards Kurds is nothing new or uncommon amongst Turks, neither is the different views regarding Kurds mentioned above, but what is tragic is that some believe that Turkey has made huge transformations in its relationship with the Kurds and that it is the Kurds who do not want peace. Unfortunately the views expressed by ordinary Turks on Facebook and hosts of TV-programs regarding the Kurdish people, who are going through this tragic event, is vastly more common than uncommon.

Making a statement about the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hitting Van province and its districts and villages, BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş remarked that the government hadn’t reached Van for 24 hours and called on the government to take immediate steps to help the citizens in the region.

Demirtaş noted that the situation of student dormitories were quite bad and underlined that the people in the villages they examined had a serious shortage of living material. Demirtaş said; “In the villages we examined, we saw how abandoned people are since the government still hasn’t reached many villages. Natural disasters should never be involved with politics. Everyone should act with solidarity with the people in Erciş. We call everyone to show awareness and to support the people of Van.”

One other statement was made from the Crisis Desk by Van Mayor Bekir Kaya who expressed that the figures concerning casualties weren’t clear and did not reflect the truth. Remarking that the Governor's Office refused their demand to make a joint work, Kaya indicated that people were still on streets, waiting for tents, food and drink water.

Kaya said that Van was caught unprepared in the earthquake and expressed that they had observed a terrible scene in the villages they observed and marked that the aids still hadn’t reached the area where people had to stay outside in winter conditions although one day had passed over the earthquake. Kaya called all sensitive circles and employers in particular for affording support to the region.

you're pathetic sweet pie for showing and paying attention at all on how SOME TURKS give their opinion on earthquake.
