The moon perfectly blocks the sun during the eclipse. Not too big or too small. Coincidence?
    I don't think so.
And the earth perfectly blocks the sun during a lunar eclipse. More coincidence?

The Moon has been moving away from Earth for 2.5 billion years at a rate of 1.5 inch a year, but the moon is a perfect fit in the time of man. Coincidence?

“God is sending America strong signs to tell us to repent. Earthquakes and eclipses and many more things to come. I pray that our country listens,” Marjorie Taylor Greene said Friday in a post on X.

2024 Total Solar Eclipse: Through the Eyes of NASA (Telescope Feed)

    Scheduled for Apr 8, 2024 #TotalSolarEclipse #Eclipse #NASA
Watch a telescope feed of a total solar eclipse moving across North America on April 8, 2024, traveling through Mexico, across the United States from Texas to Maine, and exiting North America along Canada’s coast. Weather permitting, we will provide live views of the eclipse from several locations across the eclipse path, including showing the partially eclipsed Sun in different wavelengths of light.

If there's anyone that needs to "repent" it's Ole' Gangreene herself.

    Anyone else in its path?

It's crazy here, turn on the local radio stations and it's all they're talking about.
There was some funny stuff yesterday after the quake, which was felt in parts of Vermont/New Hampshire and one station's guy was going on and on about world events, the quake and the upcoming eclipse and said that
an alien landing next wouldn't surprise him.

    Vermont:

"On April 8, 2024 at 2:14 p.m., a partial solar eclipse will begin, and at 3:26 p.m., a total eclipse will darken Vermont's daytime sky, lasting about 3 minutes. The phenomenon will continue as a partial eclipse until 4:37 p.m."

Yet it only "perfectly" blocks the sun if you are in the right path? I wonder how much of Europe or Australia will see this next eclipse?

That would all depend on where you are while you're looking at it.

Didn't notice anything in Florida this time. We had a solar eclipse I guess about 8 months ago and I just so happened to have a welding helmet which is perfect to have a good look at it.

It is obvious that we must sacrifice five perfect virgins to make the angry Moon God give us back the Sun !

Let’s not forget the thousands of virgins thrown into volcanoes by superstitious idiots who thought that would appease God.

A coincidence for sure. It is coincidental that we happen to live at a time where the moon has moved far enough away from the Earth that it is relatively the same size as the sun in the sky. Millions of years ago it would have covered up the sun even more than it does now. In millions of years down the road, it will be too far away and there will be no more total solar eclipses.

This is because every year, the moon moves away from the Earth about 4cm every year as it has for billions of years and will continue to do for billions of years.

It could also be said to be coincidental that we live in a time where there are 24 hours in a day, roughly speaking. As the moon slows the Earth's rotation, days will get longer just as they have for billions of years.

I hope that is sarcasm because you've got MTG above saying the eclipse is a sign from God for America to repent.

Well apparently this is a common sentiment with the MAGA crowd. As for your coincidence - not so much it is really only a shadow after all

Surely it's no coincidence that the epicenter of the earthquake was just a couple of miles from the Trump National golf course in New Jersey.

    Looks like he thinks so.
He just sent an emergency request to the SCOTUS for a stay to stop tomorrow's eclipse. lol

It only does this at or very near its closest approach to Earth (perigee). When it isn't, you get annular eclipses like this:
No, it doesn't "perfectly" do anything. The Earth is considerably larger than the Moon and blocks out the Sun(when aligned) by some margin.
